The first one is quite large made by kozan it is a early piece due to being
sign in blue. The second one is made from 1868 to 1900 there not much
information about the artist, it signed made in Ming style. The information

Hi John
This vase appears to be a royal satsuma they are chinese and usuallu manufactured in and around the late 20th century. I almost certain that is what it is, however i would be keenly interested to learn differently as it would change my understading of Satsuma.
As for the Kyoto Satsuma, at the end I would guess early to mid 20th century.
Best Regards
Dave
SD, I thought the kyoto piece is far nicer than the usual examples with the faces and people, it is more individual and although the shape is a little fussy, I actually liked the main decoration.
To be honest, I wasn't so keen on the oner one and didn't really look at. I have now and yes, I agree, there is a very good chance that this is Chinese. The gold lines are raised and untidy, but it is not as flashy or as messy as many pieces are.
Hello, short dong
it is Japanese form the time I stated, if you want I will give a satsumas site that is very good at dating these. The mark on the bottom is in there site and when it was made John

Hi John,
The second vase on gothenburg is Royal satsuma china 1980. Just google 'Royal satsuma' and you will see what i mean.
The first vase, that could very well be 19th century, there are many similar liek that on gothenburg as 19th century and might well be a Kozan, but generally the majority of these Kyoto are early to mid 20th century. I got one from Migularry UK and he sold it as 19th century, and he is usually always right about his appraisals, however i dug it out and was going to take picture for this thread and realised it may also be early 20th century.
1530. Mark: Kozan. Bowl in moriage decoration. On the base a paper label 日本陶磁器工业组合聯合會 "Nihon Tojiki Kogyo Kumiai Rengokai" which is a inspection certificate (#4) From this association, based in Nagoya. It is still active and was operating at least as early as the 1930s. Name in English would be "Federation of Japan Pottery Manufacturers' Co-operative Associations" ( http://www.toujiki.org/kyoren/shozaiti.html ). In the center: 合格 gokaku "passed inspection". The Red stamp reads 輸格 meaning "export quality". Date: Mid 20th century.
Kozan/Makuzu ware Museum. Makuzu is also Kozan.
I will post them here....
The Migularry Vase... Circa 19th/20th century? It was sold as 19th century...........but appears later.
( right side vase is the base mark of the migularry vase )
( This is the vase with the back mark on the left) Sorry for the confusion.
Here are more Kyoto vases I have... ( apologies for the lack of photographic staging, just quick snap in daylight)
Circa unknown..
I agree, the Migularry one is a little later. I wanted to bid on this today, it is 65 cms but there was quite a bit of interest so I didn't get involved in a battle I couldn't afford to win!

That looks amazing and it's size too. Nishida Kyoto Zo ( Meiji period) maybe, I always find these hard to allocate to the right artist and time.
A Large Baluster Vase and Cover, signed Nishida, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
