- Lot description
- Description: Flat mouth and curved abdomen, shallow circle feet. The outer wall is covered with carmine red glaze, the mouth of the inner wall is painted with a circle of gold, and the folded edge is bordered with ink color, and then filled with pink to paint the group pattern, during which five places are opened with pastel to depict the three-poly pattern and the gold-colored dragon pattern. The main body of the heart is decorated with pastel and ink to depict the Bogu decoration, a piece of paper, a few flower arrangements for vases, a beautiful and dignified lady sitting in the middle, and three children sitting at the desk to write and read poetry and books, and the furniture beside them is meticulously depicted. The wood grain painting on the bookcase is extremely realistic and interesting. This pattern is also called a beauty figure. This pattern was very popular in court paintings in the early 18th century, and has the rhythm of Yinzhen's Twelve Beauties. Some experts have speculated that the painting style is similar to that of Jiao Bingzhen, a court painter in the Kangxi period. In addition, this type of porcelain was very finely drawn, and was widely loved by overseas nobles at that time, so it can be seen in many overseas museums now. For those with similar patterns, you can refer to many collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in the United Kingdom
At this stage with several different plates having been shown, back to the orginal query, having considered, I vote imitation/copy. I have been wrong before and I would be delighted to be so again.
HI Julia.

Would you say that mine would be in this category (imitation) ?
Mine has got much more wear that this one, which is "trying to hard" to be perfect..

If your piece was sold without reference to date, then the house might have been hedging as well?
For anyone interested, here is the link to the first lot for the Yongzheng items Christies sold earlier this year (including the one I already posted earlier in this thread) from the Nelson Kline collection: https://www.christies.com/en/lot/lot-6359436 . From there his pieces go up to lot 1151, so there are several examples to compare and study. I have been told that several more of his items will be sold in this years fall auction, so it will be great to see what those are as well. John
This has a feminist feel to it! women riding on horses with whip! I guess the machu are more active outdoor than your typical Han... sitting on a desk with a scroll..
The question John and Julia is I paid 1200 euro plus comm so do i keep it or let it go ?
At least the artwork is not printed ?
Thanks again for this post as well as everyone !
your knowledge and sharing is truly appreciated (even though truth can be hard to swallow sometimes..)

Yes, perhaps, even Peter feel that this piece is more republic but impressed with the artwork which i feel is more natural drawn than the chinese auction ones..
also, why would the faker, deliberately remove the the enamel if he knows it will reduce its selling price.. (the chinese piece has all the bell and whistle..nothing is spared with all enamel glaze intact).  I also found the clothes on the women (china version) a bit to stiff those black colour lines). Notice the ribbon on her, the china one is a bit too stiff compare to mine which is more flowing with the clothes ..
You said you were in Sydney? I would think there'd be a good auction house there that gives in person valuations. Or at least a specialist dealer you could take it to, to ask their opinion. See if you can reach out to someone like that. It really needs to be handled as William (and maybe others) said a while back.
Â
Yes, thanks Mark. I have met her and bought some stuff from them.
They have nice good place to buy a good steak (Victor Churchill).... 😍 😍Â
Thanks again.. I will bite the bullet and bring the plate over here...
Thanks again..

The art of calligraphy - and for the ancient Chinese it certainly was an art - aimed to demonstrate superior control and skill using brush and ink.
