3" high x 1 1/2' Always thought it was Chinese marked Chia-ching. Any ideas?

They seem to have used the early 19th century Canton pattern for decoration. Schiffer’s book shows a brush holder with the Canton pattern. But these export pieces were never marked inside the decoration. I don’t think they were marked at all. I agree with Mark, it’s a modern piece.

Thanks for your info. But, it can't be 21st century, I've had this piece since 1970's - bought in Tokyo. The sticker #5 was one of the earliest things I bought - probably 1972. Of course that leaves the 20th century. The other question is what was it used for. I had heard somewhere of these small pieces used as "salesman" pieces to order larger items. In this case a larger vase. But, I haven't seen this style cylindrical vase.

I think it is probably a spill vase, very similar size to an 18th century Wedgwoood one I own. As for the period, I am not sure, personally I'd say 19th century from the foot, color and decoration.... I don't think it is a hard and fast rule that export pieces weren't marked, I had always thought this too, but more recently I have seen just a few pieces (I think Cohen and Cohen had one), with marks thrown on, not that it is common by any means, but I think it did occur. I will try to find it, but in one one of my books there is either Jiaqing or Daoguang marked piece of canton, I can't remember which book, I think one of the Ayers books, but if you could see the pile of books next to my desk, hip height at this point, plus the full bookcases that stretch the length of my basement, you will understand why it may take me a bit to find again.
I do also at the moment have Fitzhugh plate with a jade mark on it, something I'd never seen before, now I know its not a reign mark, but it certainly is an oddity to have a marked Fitzhugh plate with any type of mark.

Thanks for your input. There is also a little mountain house with a pennant fluttering. And there are some very small details like the boards across the bridge. I'll show another view. Also I wonder if any snuff bottles have a mark. This seems more like the size of a snuff bottle.

@musicnus yes there are plenty of marked Snuff bottles, so it is not an issue of height, but yours has too wide an opening to be that. It is almost the perfect size and design to hold toothpicks it seems, but maybe it is a small brush pot.
I'm also wondering if the large amounts of very small bubbles helps to date it? Here's the closeup of the mountain top houses and pennant.
