I know what you mean about the things on the table. I think it is important to look at these details. I even tried to see what was on the seller's floor! 😉 I agree, the handles are bamboo; strange choice of colouring - reminds me a bit of Whieldon ware. (Not suggesting it is!)
@julia The only Whieldon ware I own are two small octagonal Eastlake/Morris looking flow blue transfer plates marked Whieldon ware, Corona (pattern name), F. Winkle and co., Ltd. England. I have owned since the seventies and have seen them in decorating displays in magazines and once on a television design set, so not rare but sweet. I have them displayed on a shelf with what looks to be hand painted straw/bachelor button Morris looking design around the rim plate marked S.B & S England below an Oval with anchor mark, South Audley St., T. Goode & Co, London, W. I read Thomas Eastlake's Hints On Household Taste in the nineteen-seventies (a reprint) and I am thrilled when I come across something that suggests Eastlake/William Morris. That's right. A year or so ago, they were getting very good prices.
I think at this point I'll go for Mr. Peter and ask him what he thinks, as someone said you can't get an evaluation for something you don't own from Christie's or Sotheby's so maybe with his help he could find me a solution.

What an interesting vase. Some have commented they think it reminds them of basket weave, not to my eye. the vertical and horizontal lines do not over and under lap as in weaving. It looks like faux brick work or laid tiles to me. Decorative brick work is called " Yingzo Fashi" in China I did a very quick search with this term for ceramics and found only tiled panels. I like the faux bamboo handles. Can't really see the quality of the painting from the photo's, however the painting schematic's seem ok for late 19thc. Will be very interested to hear Peters thoughts and if this type of construction has a name.

That is a good point, Michael (nice to have you back). Coincidentally, I saw a pair of rose mandarin vases earlier whose lower sections, from a distance, reminded me of this one only they were more tile like than a weave. When I enlarged it, it was nothing of the sort, just the bands of decoration had been done in such a way that it looked like brickwork. I wish I had kept a link, now.

It is basket weave style if you want I’ll magnify the weaving for you if it let me.I have a small pare with the same style of weaving that Was made in Germane made was not mark That came from mid 19 century. Me personally I’ve have not seen weaving on Chinese porcelain in museum pieces I have in Japanese and German pieces which both copies Chinese art works. Me personally I bet it’s Japanese John
Hello, guys sorry for replying too late, I did get a reply from Mr. Combs and he said that he needs a picture for the bottom to make his final decision, but he suspects it's Kutani Japanese porcelain by looking at the used color palette and as for the shape, he never saw it on old Japanese and Chinese wares so he said it might be done in the 20th century, value if it's Japanese 1500$ and if it's Chinese 15000$ but unlikely.
unfortunately, the lady is not responding back to my request to get me pictures for the vase. so I think the case is closed 🙁
