Hello antiquers, how are you doing, long time no see, in the last two months I lost my motivation to look up for Chinese wares, due to a lot of fakes and rejections from Sotheby's for authentic pieces, Now I'm back, maybe I'll do better this time, God willing, I found this beautiful vase on the internet, and the seller is willing to sell it for 500 $ do you think guys that it's worth anything, I never saw something like it.

this is the vase, I don't have a picture for the base, because the seller told me that she is afraid to break it as it's quite heavy for her, according to her the vase was bought in the first part of the 19th century, Measurements: 96 cm x 52:

Hi Ibrahim,

the vase is one of the strangest things I have ever seen. Who would paint on such a surface? If anything it’s late 19th century, but difficult to judge because of the surface. How do they plan to ship it?
The plates look like 18th century Chinese export, not something you can resell to Sothebys if that’s your intention.

@shinigami The vase is in the united kingdom, I live in Morocco, My plan if it is something worthy and gets accepted by Sotheby's or christies is to ship it to them directly by the current owner or send someone to pick it up from the seller.

should I send it to Mr Peter combs for a review, knowing that I don't have a picture for the base, and where do you think I can resell those plate for a good price, like 800 to 1000$, I can buy some of them for 50 to 100 $? I think both sothebyes and christies sold similar ones in the past.

@imperialfinegems I told the current owner to take pictures for tha base, but she told me that the vase if very heavy for her and she is afraid to break it, could this be identified without the base, or should I really ask her more to provide the pictures.

@lep thank you for the kind words, I hope you are right, I went through a lot of disappointments, I almost lost hope that I can find something worthy, how much do you think it could be worth? like a rough estimation!

Ibrahim you put me in with some very knowledgeable people, not sure I deserve to be in that list.
Like the others I  have never seen any thing like that vase.  I have seen basket weave blanc de chine but in much smaller sizes, small mantle and flower vases, none were antique Chinese.  The plates I think are early 1800’s export, I’m afraid they won’t make you a rich man though.

@sadoq95 Personally I would avoid the vase, just because I am not attracted to it. But let's see if others know something specific about it.
