The recent auction Joanie had put on several pieces which came from Waddingtons Auction house March 9 2018. For those that wish for better deals or pricing on their items this may be a good place to source your collections from when the next Asian Art auction comes.

The wood, especially lot # 323 (19/20th day bed) was very cheap, if it was real Huali.

Thank you, Some of the Items went for way way above their estimate, and other items such as the Kangxi went for quite cheap. It was very interesting.

I'm new to the forum, although lurking for a few months.
I noticed that Waddington's has a new Asian art auction which I thought might interest some of the members. Not a lot of ceramics but some interesting stuff I think. But I am not sure about the accuracy of all the lots, for example I wonder if this famille verte vase isn't 19th C (or later?) instead of Kangxi.

You‘re right, this vase seems to be Kangxi revival or even a modern fake. The way the bird in the first picture is painted and the blue rings on the foot look quite strange.

I agree, Birgit. That bird is neither Kangxi nor 19th c and the rings are indeed very strange.

And for us collectors of archaic jade there is an opportunity to purchase a nice warring states/western han dynasty jade scabbard slide for a fraction of what you pay at the major international auction houses.

Waddingtons probably know that their vase is dubious, because the estimated price is really low compared to their other items. Might have been more honest not to call it Kangxi instead of letting the buyer decide.

The price of which is way more than I recall seeing Famille verte chargers go for on eBay...
I thought the Xuande marked ewer was also interesting, possibly Ming if not Xuande?

The charger is really nice. Large in size, provenanced, exhihibited and appeared in literature. All things that adds to its value.
Are there anyone around willing to share their qualified opinion on the ewer? We are ready to put some bids on some of the lots here but the auction is taking place soon.

no doubt Kangxi revival of the Guangxu period, as is the famille verte jar in Kangxi style of the lot that follows it.
