Hi All,
Not 100% certain this item is not right, but leaning to the side that says its not worth the asking price. The seller has not made any claims as to the age of the jar but has mischievously referenced a beautiful jar that is in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria my home state, I have seen this jar on many occasions during my visits to the gallery. What do you all think ? Can't say that the seller is doing anything wrong as they are not making any claims that their item is antique, except that the asking price and the association with a genuine antique may influence some people. Have a good mind to let NGV know that somebody is using one of their images to sell something that to my admittedly uniformed mind looks very doubtful. That piece of paper on the base looks like fake to me.

I'm sure this jar is a modern fake and they have stuck a (meaningless) old envelope on the base . There is hardly any resemblance in the painting style with the museum vase , in terms of proportions , quality etc, in my view. And the base looks wrong. I would leave well alone.
I don't think the museum would be interested in or care about their image being used in this way , presumably it's copyright free and the seller is not claiming any connection with the museum, but you could enquire I suppose.

The worst is the piece of an old envelope on the bottom, as Tam already noticed. Would anyone mistake it for an antique label? It makes absolutely no sense. Keep away from this item.

Hi Michael:
I see the Buy it Now price is about $9,000 USD. I looked at the NGV link and I see from the interesting history that even that one was suspected of being a fake many years ago, but was eventually authenticated as a genuine Ming piece. All in all, if you win the lottery I think you can find something that is unquestionably real. I agree with your suspicion that this is a fake item.

The fact that he/she wrote a whole listing for this without once using the word ‘Chinese’ whilst using several other key words like ‘rare’, ‘porcelain’ and ‘cobalt blue’ is hilarious!
He or she KNOWS it’s rare but has no idea where it was made? Aye, ok!
Same seller. He must have recently raided a junk yard. But even most junk yards reject monstrosities such as this, so I am at a loss to imagine where it may have been obtained.

I would suggest that you all be wary of these items, the blue and white jar and the clouds and bats vase.
As it appears to me, neither of them has any great age.

Their saving grace though is that if one buys either of these items, it will arrive before Christmas as the actual eBay postings indicate in red font!
I think it likely that someone will eventually buy them. This seller need sell only one to reap a huge profit because they are intrinsically worthless and were probably produced in Hong Kong at a cost of about 20 USD each.
