So right now there are 3 places to see Peter's list for eBay, and one for Catawiki? For eBay: end soon, end in a week or so - page 2, and under this Forum. If I am counting the "Buy It Now" page, then it would be 4. It is getting a bit confusing for me...
Why can't we put all the ebay listing on ONE list, beginning with the "end soon" items on top, and then as more items are being found as the week goes on, they are added to the bottom of that list. That way, we have ONE place to check for eBay. The list expands as we move along in the week, and we know the top items are already ended/sold.
I just thought that would be so much more organized and easier to access: ONE place for eBay and ONE place for Catawiki! The Buy It Now page could remain since it is an separate category?
Let Peter know your honest thoughts please...
P.S. I am NOT complaining. I cannot thank Peter enough for doing this for free, out of his good heart to make sure we buy authentic items!
I agree it's a little confusing - I don't really understand how the items below this forum relate to the newsletter items - are they just additions through the week ? Peter said on the video last week they had made some changes and they were adding more items as the week progresses. Also sometimes sold auction items are featured in the video on Friday which I haven't seen in the newsletter or website, but maybe that is just me.
I also agree that the buy it now items should be separate, especially ones that have been on sale for months and years , although sometimes newly listed buy-it-nows are the real bargains because people don't always know what they are selling and set a low price. But maybe it's too much work to flag these up.
tam
Glad you also think the same... Let's see what others have to say. I really think just one list for ebay (and keeps adding to it as the week goes by) is sufficient. Then one more list for ebay's Buy It Now....
Hello Guys,
Interesting and timely idea. What you're discussing is something we're trying to muddle through.
We at times here have gotten an idea and just tossed it up as we thought might be useful. (Too many chefs can be an issue here at times) Perhaps it's time to consolidate a bit. One of the problems has been, eBay in the last year have made some rather odd changes in how items are displayed and how they can be retrieved to share here. Which has resulted in some tech Jiu-Jitsu on our end to adjust.
One of the things we've thought of, let me know what you think.
1. Keep the News Letter Page basically as it is, but with fewer items but focussing on what we think are the best things or most interesting auctions. It would include both eBay and Catawiki together. These would not necessarily be based on price alone, as many of us like things that are fascinating, but not by default very expensive.
2. Create a LARGER seperate eBay page similar to the feed at the bottom of the FORUM page here, and remove the one here. Then place links to it, from here, the News Letter and Home Page etc. This page could be updated several times a week as things sell and are no longer available.
3. A Buy It Now Page
4. Create a page solely for Catawiki items, linked similarly to how eBay listing are treated. This can also be updated several times a week.
So, in the end, it would be simplified down to the list below, we could then just create a simple panel of buttons leading to each for quick reference.
- The News Letter,
- an eBay Page and
- Buy It Now Page
- a Catawiki page.
Any suggestions are of course welcome..let me know.
Thanks to all, Peter
Peter
Dear Peter and Forum members,
Personally, I'd prefer to see eBay and Catawiki handled separately, but that's just a personal preference, and it may also be that the IT logistics of achieving that are complex to navigate. If they're not, though, then separating the listings is something I'd welcome.
How about a trial run of that arrangement, separated listings, to test the water, so to speak, and see if it works well? Always providing, of course, that scrapping it if it doesn't won't pose too much of a headache.
Al
Hi Alan,
If I understand correctly let me know.
You would prefer having the Main News Letter Page include only eBay Items and then a separately linked page sort of as it is now for Catawiki. We could then just have something like a BIG eBay page updated every couple of days with more items than are on the News Letter Page.
i.e News Letter Page with selected eBay items but also linked to a separate expanded CATAWIKI main page, then an expanded more often updated eBay page and the Buy It Now page. It could be hybrid of sort of what we have now, but with simplified linkage. Focussed on four options.
Please let me know..all comments welcome!!
Best Peter
Peter
Dear Peter,
Yes, that's it, you've expressed perfectly the page format that was only cloudily forming in my head. That proposal to me seems very clear. Maybe other Forum members will have further ideas and tweaks to suggest, but as regards the format you've outlined there, as they say over here in Ireland, 'Sure, give it a lash, see how it goes'!
Regards,
Alan
Thanks Alan,
We'll pull out the White Boards and see if we can't work out something that's more fluid and we'll "give it a lash"...my Grandfather use to say that..
Should have something by the end of the week..maybe sooner.
Best Peter
Peter
That sounds great, Peter and Alan!
I can see myself checking that “often Updated eBay page” very often! Surprises are being added each week and that is where we find them! ?

Hi
I agree about separating ebay and catawiki listings. I can't help feeling that as catawiki has its own experts who vet the items , it's not really necessary to feature their stuff in the newsletter at all, but maybe you want to encourage and support the site. And there are definite bargains on the site for buyers now.
tam
Hey All..!
We're working on what we discussed yesterday....I think we'll finish in the next day or so. As for Catawiki, they do a pretty good job of vetting their listings (very refreshing). The site itself gets a bit of getting used to, as the listings can be a little hard to find with all the assorted category and special sale sections. I would also like to do what we can to help get the word out, I've talked with them quite a few times, and they are nice people who actually care.
We'll be setting up Catawiki with a separately linked page(s). For those who are interested in what we've spotted there. They had a couple FABULOUS bargains last week. I was shocked...
So, I guess stay tuned and we will share as soon as the changes and pages are done and tested.
Thanks to you all!
Peter

To All,
We've began transitioning and reassigning pages, links, banners and so forth. All onto just one-page for quick access.
The News Letter page will remain the same, but additional items during the week can be found on "The Market Place Page" Linked by the banner below, it's on the Home Page, the Sidebar of the News Letter, at the bottom of this page and has been inserted into the Site Menu Bar at the top of each page.
Nothing is set in stone, but this seems to be a much-simplified version over the erratic (as so rightly pointed out by you folks) and somewhat confusing previous incarnation. The pages will all be updated in the next 24 hours..
All thought are welcome..please!! Let me know.
Best regards, Peter
Peter
Hi Peter,
I love the changes! The Marketplace is a great name, and EVERYTHING is there! I love how easy it is to navigate: one central location with all links and lists. The “eBay Today page” is my favorite now!
Thank you!

Thank you Peter for this update. I like it.

Hi All,
It seems to simplify things quite a bit I think for our community here. It should also allow us to update pages much more easily as well.
It took a bit of link and configuration changes, but it's always good to get some housekeeping done. These adjustments I think in hindsight were overdue.
