I would be wary of this site. It appears that many pieces are not authentic
Dear John,
that "museum" is a shame! It is full of fake, the "museum" itself is a fake. Stay away!
Giovanni
Dear Esasianart,
we were writing at the same time.
John, to start with, even the fishes b&w dish that they have in the main page, near the name, is printed. Just to give an idea.
But all the "institution" is a fake. Where is it? The address is fake.
Giovanni
Hello, Giovanni
well if they are fakes then it give the member a place to compare to what I read for his information
page these are from different collections from around the globe. He has a contact page let's ask him
what's up and see what he has to say. John
Isn't this the museum that troll (Sy) from the Goteborg forum was affiliated with? Tonnes of fakes.
Dear John,
ask him who? Do you mean ask to such “museum”? And what do you expect that they say? “Yes, we are a fraud place, but please don’t tell to anybody”?
Look at the b&w dish that I have mentioned. Don’t you see that it is printed?
Read their “about us” page: do you think that it is the standard way for a museum do describe themself?
Giovanni
Yes Thegoldentoad, now I remember who is SY, the Pastor, I forgot about him, Haha.
Giovanni
Haha yes! Thats it, Pastor Sy. Brilliant stuff.
Hello, Giovanni
No it not how museums do but it how I find out what other know I trust peter
there no way he can vet everything on eBay no one can give a 100% assurance on
apiece age with out having a test done most people are not going to drill a hole to find out.
someone said peter started this to sell his Chinese pieces . To me you seem to know what
your talking about but know one know everything . We did a post when this site first started
about us maybe we need to start a new one. John
I am getting all sorts of Deja Vu these days..
Dear John,
by your name you seem to be a native English speaker. Are you? I am asking because I have some difficulties in understanding what you are writing.
Do you mean that I am wrong in saying that that sort of place is showing a lot of fake items? I call them “that sort of place” because it is not worth to be called Museum, that museum doesn’t exist. If you do not believe, write them and ask them if you can visit the museum. It is not necessary to be a genius to understand that. Where are them? There is no address on the site. Are you aware of many museums with no address??
Anyway, a lot of those items are blatant fake. You are right, nobody knows everything and myself is far, much far from knowing everything. Nevertheless the evidence is evidence. If it is not clear to you today, it will be when you will know more. Without the necessity of knowing everything.
I never understood people who thinks that, because they do not know something, are thinking that who knows a bit more is acting as a presumptuous.
I really don’t like to be targeted as presumptuous only because I say something that who is thinking so doesn’t know.
I know nothing about astrophysics. If I heard someone talking about astrophysics I do not think that he is presumptuous. I humbly try to understand what he is saying, if I am interested in the matter.
If I do not know something, I keep my mouth shut. If I say something, it is because that is of common understanding among those who knows the matter. That’s all.
Did you have a look at that b&w dish with fishes? Have you seen that it is stamped or aren’t you able to see that? If you see that, with all evidence, it is printed, why do you believe them, claiming it as being Kangxi?
BTW it is not possible to date Qing pieces with TL test as seems that you are supposing.
Giovanni
BTW I did not understand what all this has to do with Peter. Can you please be more precise?
I just had a look at the 'museum'... I could not find a genuine piece! - I'll stick to studying Asian Art in the collections of the V&A, British Museum, MET etc, I'm pretty sure I'm safer ground ?
Dear Lewis,
For matter of being scrupulous and be sure of what I said (so glad that you concur on this!) I have just finish to check all pieces in the “Figures” section, because figures are the easiest way to spot the fakes.
I do not know if laughing or crying. Not a single piece there is as claimed, not a single one! A real shame.
I am wondering which is the scope of that site. Maybe they are counting on whom will contact them and offer the possibility to buy such “museum grade” fake?
Giovanni
Hello, Lewis , Giovanni
I agree the site not what it seems and no Giovanni you right. And Lewis i only use the major museums
This is a site you would have a hard time convincing lot of new collectors of being fake
the same as a few you are trying to convince here. You sem, to get up set when someone questions
you. From what I read of your posting you know what your talking about but you want people to take
your word without questioning it and questions is how we learn. Have a nice day or evening, John
