@shinigami Dear Birgit i dont know yet... but it seems they are simply paper labels wich can be replaced , but the overall apearance is so satisfying i think i leave it the way it is.Â
@webboy Embrossed leather compartment fronts? Very attractive storage for documents, secret state papers, when the bureaucracy had style.
@webboy and some Mulder and Scully X-files stylish storage. Rocking zombies. It does look like it would have felt at home in Sherlocke's study, perhaps with a standing magnifier on top. Good find. Sharon
@webboy Beautiful piece, how is the purchaser going to use it? A collector's cabinet or a jewelry armoire for a very lucky girl? It looks as though it may have been an department store cabinet or a card catalogue for a nice library and yes, both lovely pieces very steampunk.
Speaking of Sherlock Holmes file cabinet, did you know there’s a story about a collector of Chinese porcelain: The Adventure of the Illustrious Client.Â

Birgit, here is the illustration from The Complete Facsimile Edition of The Original Illustrated 'STRAND' Sherlock Holmes, published 2006 by Robert Frederick Litmited, 4 North Parade, Bath BA1LF UK. ISBN 0-7554-6879-1. It is a lovely huge book, with an Eastlake style cover 12" x 10", makes a great decorative book. It has faux marbled endpapers. It is very thick and heavy (this story begins on page 1041). Dark green and black with a gold profile of Sherlock on cover. I read the Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes in the nineteen-seventies, but it was a much lighter weight edition, which I no longer own. I confess that I do not recall this story and I will need to refresh my memory. Best, Sharon
The edition with the illustrations is great. I have a rather worn paperback edition and by chance read the story just a few days ago. It’s not one of the best in my opinion so don’t be disappointed.Â

 Just a quick update on this toppic , i picked up the "cartonnier " thats the correct name for this kind of french office furniture.
Overall condition is just as expected very good .
However also yesterday whas asked to look at a few things, my neighbor wanna get rid of , since her husband past away last year . An guess what in the Garage stood another "cartonnier" this time a double with 16 Carton drawers and a wide wodden one on top , only problem the Frontpart of the Drawers are all missing. Good thing its for free. So i have to come up with ideas to Create frontpieces , maybee with old wallpaper and some Gold stamping and so on and so fort...
