take a look at the pictures of this sang de beuf vase footrim ,
the seller claims that this damage is normal and part of the production process , that the glace is baked to a support plate underneath the vase .
i fund a few pictures of rough footrims but the rough
nes is always on the glace never on the porcelaine , does anyone have experience with this
imo the vase is just damaged .

Yes I too would say it's ok for 19th century. Anthony Allen who's a fan of monochrome red shows even worse authentic footrims in his book.

I don't think it does, it is more a good indication of being correct for the age only I can't recall what the age was? 19th c? Do you remember, Steve?

Just seen Birgit's post, in that case it is 19th c I was remembering. Seems good then.
@webboy Not that I think your vase is anything other than 19th c., as we just got done discussing in the thread on the Kangxi foot with mark, it is a bad habit to make a determination on just a photo of the bottom.
As a matter of fact, there are modern sang de beof (ox blood) jars made in the traditional 19th c. manner with the overflow of glaze chipped away.
So, if possible, post a photo of the complete jar in good light.

Concur with Tim @greeno107 - somewhat difficult to say much on a single image …
As with Birgit @shinigami I have seen worst examples, accruing when the glaze runs excessively and pieces require to be ‘chipped’ from the kiln floor, but genuine 19th century example exhibit ware, age and dirtying to such ‘chipped’ areas and, from the single image, these appear rather ‘clean’ …
Just my thoughts, and I could well be wrong, but further images of the whole piece are needed …

@webboy Given the purple areas around the mouth, while it is mostly red, I would still call this glaze flambe, not ox blood.
Looks to be a large late 19th c. example.
@webboy Is the tri-legged stand that the vase is on for sale? I would be interested in buying it.

I’m curious about the inside of this vase can I ask for a photo of the inside. Is that glossy glaze normal for 19th century looks like a mirror.
As I said, not something I know much about, but I agree with Tim it's more like a flambé glaze.
