That vase is at Henan Museum. It is probably not of the Qingliangsi kiln but more likely of the Zhanggongxiang kiln which could be the reason why it's not on the list of Ru heirloom pieces? http://english.chnmus.net/sitesources/hnbwy/page_pc/WeeklySelection/Ru-KilnAzure-glazedGooseNeckVasewithEngravedDesigns/list1.html
Also this one.
The vase at Henan museum is actually depicted in the book. I wasn't certain if it was the same one because of the difference in appearance of the color but it's the photograph. I now found another picture of it with a better match of the color.
This one is also similar to a vase in a museum. I believe it is also at Henan Museum. And it is also not at the list of Ru heirloom pieces but the museum claim it is authentic. I think they also say it is and excavated piece but I am not sure.
Hello Justin
Have you tried Purple Culture in Hong Kong, perhaps the books that Stuart has mentioned may be available from this book seller. I purchased the Selected Ge Ware book from them for delivery to the UK and I was very happy with their service.
Kind regards,
Jeremy
@ming1449 Stuart, thank you SO much for these suggestions!
@jeremy Jeremy, It is so funny that you brought up Purple Culture, I purchased both of these books last night from them. Awesome selection! I am excited to see what else they have.
All the best guys, this forum is great.
Stay healthy and safe!

It seems Xin has taken a day off. But just to summarize: I don't think the pieces shown in this book are fakes; I think Xin is wrong about that. But in case anybody is actually interested in buying the book it has ISBN 978-7-5362-6531-8 and the price is RMB 398.00
I just gave my self some time to read the essays at Henan Museum's website more closely. It seems the goose-neck vase with incised decoration is actually stated to be a product of the Zhanggongxiang kiln. Quote: 'Song goose neck vases have only been found among the products of Ru Kiln, Zhanggonxiang kiln, and the government kiln at Laohudong in Hangzhou, their rarity adding to their preciousness.'
(The government kiln of Laohudong in Hangzhou is also known as the tiger cave kiln, responsible for the making of Xiuneisi Guan ware of the Southern Song dynasty.)
Two pictures from the article copied below. First picture show an goose-neck vase unearthed from Zhanggongxiang. Second show a goose-neck vase unearthed from Laohudong in Hangzhou.
So Xin is to good to specify why the pieces shown in the book should be fakes? Personally I don't think so but I must assume that copies of the other Ru producing kilns are being made too. I bought a ru-style bowl by a mistake recently that wasn't described as ru ware but just as celadon. But no known examples in the same shape from the Qingliangsi kiln seem to be published. But there is an example in the same shape in the book and the glaze matches perfectly with some of the other examples shown. It looks new though. But who knows? Maybe I have an authentic example of Zhanggongxiang Ru ware?
Authentic Ru ware of the Northern Song dynasty actually IS available but probably not cheap. This dealer in Hong Kong for example have a piece for sale but it's probably also a product of the Zhanggongxiang kiln and with extensive gold lacquer repairs. http://www.kyfineart.com/index.php?_p=ceramic_item&id=157 Same dealer has also published a book that also covers the Zhanggongxiang kiln which I would really like to read some day.
It seems Xin has taken a day off. But just to summarize: I don't think the pieces shown in this book are fakes; I think Xin is wrong about that. But in case anybody is actually interested in buying the book it has ISBN 978-7-5362-6531-8 and the price is RMB 398.00
Sorry, you spelled my name wrongly (@Xin_FAWIS not @Xin_FAVIS), so that I didn't see your post. I didn't say all examples are fakes. I said "This website and this book are full of FAKES !!! Be carefull !!!" I didn't mean they are ALL fakes. Please check all pictures from this website you posted. There are a lot of fakes and wrong information. The first book may ok, I don't know. But the second one with the sitting man on the cover, there is no such thing. There are only 89 authentic Ru wares (heirlooms, not pieces from excavations) which are worldwide recognized by all institutions. The last found is in Dresden this year.
No such Ru statue exists!
You're right with your comparisons. But look at these below, they are definitly fakes.
And these two are Yaozhou ware or Yaozhou type ware. On the website they are claimed to be Lin Ru kiln Ru wares. Totally wrong.
The KY Fine Art from Hong Kong is a recognized dealer. The owner was Vice President and Vice Chairman of Antique Authentication Committee, Hong Kong Art Craft Merchants Association. His repaired Ru ware should be authentic. I trust the Antique Authentication Committee. I know they are doing good jobs.
I hope I didn't make mistake here. If I do, please tell me. Thank you.
Xin

Hi Cory and Xin -
I was in HK in 2017 and saw this exhibition at KY Ng’s gallery ...
Some wonderful and exquisite examples shown, almost all shards with two/three reconstructed pieces ...
KY Ng is widely recognised and regarding as the top academic dealer in HK ..
Xin is quite correct, no such Ru statures exists, and only shards of pieces modelled on animals such as duck, lion and dragon have been unearthed at the Qingliangsi kiln site ...
And yes, all Ru shards are rather expensive to acquire ...
Stuart
I agree with both Ming1499 and Xin.
I dont know KY fine art personally. However he is as noted by Stuart and Xin a known academic on chinese wares. His pieces do from time to time appear on sotheby's and christies auctions.
Thank you Xin for your post. Very informative.
Mark
OK, thanks for the replies. I'll need to to follow up on the topic later on. Right now I think it's best to get some sleep. Goodnight!

The art of calligraphy - and for the ancient Chinese it certainly was an art - aimed to demonstrate superior control and skill using brush and ink. Calligraphy established itself as one of the major Chinese art forms during the Han dynasty (206 BCE - 220 CE), and for two millennia after, all educated men were expected to be proficient at it.
