I actually have a plate in transit that I bought because I suspected it could be Ru ware. It was listed as Japanese but I think it is likely Chinese. It has an incised foliate decoration, a greenish-blue glaze and a crackle that matches perfectly with this vase depicted in book. Unfortunately the text doesn't specify which one of the ru-kilns it belongs to or its whereabouts.
Please show us your plate when it hopefully arrives safely. Looks a lovely book.
I try to resist the temptation of posting the pictures since it is sort of against my politic to show my own pieces. But please note that it is the ru pieces from the Qingliangsi kiln that were sought after by the emperors and today have extremely high value. The book show pieces from five or six different kilns in the Ruzhou area that according according to Chinese tradition can be considered ru ware.
I can show you another piece I was considering. This lotus bowl was included in a set of three identical bowls described a jun ware and not stated to be old by the source. One of them had spur marks on the base. I had noticed that the glaze compared nicely with a vase depicted in the book. Unfortunately there is no picture of that vase in the link I posted. I had found it in another link that has meanwhile gone blind as it happens quite often with the Chinese sites. But now I just discovered that it is very similar to a couple of Ru style bowls at Freer Gallery of Art. Interestingly no precise dating are given for these. Both are stated to be either authentic Song dynasty examples or possibly modern copies. Unfortunately I only have one picture of one of these bowls.

Thanks so much for posting this! I am not able to find this for sale anywhere - do you have a source from which this can be purchased? Thank you!
Justin
No, unfortunately not. I haven't really looked to see where you can actually buy it. But I personally find it very interesting that there are six different kilns whose productions can be considered Ru ware.
Quoted from the book: Dian kiln, Linru kiln, Baofeng Qingliang Temple Ruguan kiln, Wenmiao kiln, Zhanggongxiang kiln, and Donggou kiln.
This means that it would be possible to build up a collection entirely of Song dynasty Ru ware even though it would probably not be an easy task. You can see how some of the pieces look like Yaozhou ware and Korean Goryeo celadon. A Qingliang Temple Ru piece would of course be the holy grail in such a collection.
But now the link I first came across seem to be working again. It is more convenient to use and has a few additional pictures. http://www.art-meiyu.com/post/show/id/177
And this is the picture of the vase I had in mind that has a glaze that compares nicely with the glaze of the lotus bowls I found. The way the blue glaze ends to reveal the brown rim color and the white residue covering the blue glaze.
And it also comperes well with this Ru tripod censer also at Freer Gallery of Art. https://asia.si.edu/object/S2012.9.3153/ I'm beating up myself these day for not having put a bid on those lotus bowls or as a minimum having copied all of the pictures and bookmarked the listing. If I had seen the pieces at Freer Gallery I would definitely had bid on them.
Did anybody read this book?

Thank you both so much! I am not looking to buy anything, just looking for a good guide on Ru ware for learning purposes - I'll stick with the Christie's and Sotheby's catalogues I have saved over the years on Ru.
Don't worry @xin_fawis, I am staying about as far away from the fatuous and nutty Joseph Sharon as humanly possible 😉
All the best,
Justin
Hi Justin -
If you can find them, these are two of the best publications available on Ru wares ...
The first is of an exhibition held at the Gugong, Beijing in 2015, which includes major loans from the British, Shanghai, Tianjin and Jilin Provincial Museums, the Cultural Relics and Archaeology Institute, Henan Province and the Baofeng Cultural Relics Management Bureau ...
The second, also an exhibition, was held at the NP, Taipei in 2016, the first section includes all the Ru wares held within this museum ...
Both excellent publications, both of which contain excellent imagery, many with multiple views, of these fabulous pieces ...
Stuart
@Xin_FAVIS What makes you say the pieces in the book are fakes? This vase for example is similar to a vase in a Chinese museum that they claim is an authentic Ru piece. Picture of the vase exhibited at the museum attached below.

The art of calligraphy - and for the ancient Chinese it certainly was an art - aimed to demonstrate superior control and skill using brush and ink. Calligraphy established itself as one of the major Chinese art forms during the Han dynasty (206 BCE - 220 CE), and for two millennia after, all educated men were expected to be proficient at it.
