I’m just curious on if anyone has ever seen vases with such a strange shape. Looks like a lot of work in constructing these blue and white imperial not vases. The way Peter talks about designers liking items like this wondering what I should ask for the pair.
Well, you didn't write how tall they are, but I'm making a guess at around 40cm? I think as just decorative pieces, somewhere in the 400-800 dollar range is probably not entirely crazy? I would probably do a little research on similar new items with decoration in this quality to get a better idea, etsy might be a good starting point, lots of reproductions on there. 😎

@rahawkins Like a tall Fenton poppy pattern Gone With Wind Lamp (hundreds)? Are they eighties or hot off the press?
@rahawkins I edited out the bit about the shoe but out of curiosity, how much does a Fenton Shoe go for now? My parents gave me a tall Fenton poppy pattern Gone With the Wind lamp in the seventies to sit atop an Eastlake parlor table, that my husband had gifted me for a Valentine's Day present in 1975.
@sharonp these vases are hot off the press. And I would have passed on them if not within the price point of half of decor value the auction listed them as Qing and I know they knew they were not Qing. I have two types of clients the ones that want authentic pieces for free and the others that want nice looking pieces for less than authentic. Most of my patrons don’t want to fork out 15000 for matching Ming vases. It’s the $100 to $200 net profit sales I do my best a hundred sales in a year adds up quickly. We don’t have the same opportunity as the East coast were stuff is scattered all over north and south it’s more of a get what you can for cheap.
@lotusblack Seems a good business model to me. You are correct, for practical reasons (children, pets, natural disasters), many people just want a "look," without having to take an insurance policy out on an item.
@sharonp 5 to 30 dollars. There could be rare ones that go higher. Then you get cross collectors with certain examples (eg uranium glass vs Fenton brand), so they are typically at least a little more.
I havent sold a gone with the wind lamp before, but I remember them being some of the more expensive ones. The epergnes are also very popular, and can cross the 1k threshold.
The reason I compared the vases to Fenton is that they are a company that produced repros. We just know about them because they are sometimes marked and there is a licensing trail that can be traced.
