As for Shangri, @julia in my opinion, from what little I understand and from the lots he puts on catawiki, he doesn't really seem knowledgeable.
I have only heard good things and although I don't follow their sales closely, it isn't often I think their dating is wrong and then of course, I may be wrong. 😊

They are quite knowledgeable, and pretty accurate with their dating, that said many of the pieces that are auctioned off rather than retailed by them are either damaged or are often seen across multiple periods, say the pattern and/ or type of ware is seen late ming into Kangxi, or a pattern that is seen throughout Qing. I have purchased quite a few good Ming and early Qing pieces from them, and I have found their descriptions to be spot on, but also they have always been completely honest with me, certainly a retailer I trust. There is no such thing as an infalable dealer either, so as long as one is honest with me and willing to share their knowledge I will keep coming back.
As for the figure in question, the dirty foot is of some concern however the color of the paste visible at the edge of the glaze that is not dirty looks okay, if the dirt washes off with a quick soak and dash of dish soap I think its it possible that it is just dirty. Not going to say its often, but I have bought plenty of legit pieces that were absolutely filthy underneath. I have a client and friend whose export collection blows away most museums in its sheer volume and quality, he has quite a few of these figures, kinda creepy having so many little faces looking at you though, they are quite varied in quality, detail and the only thing that I would say is consistent is the paste ( zoom in on the Christie's example), this also varies with size, smaller ones are less detailed than the larger 8 and 9 plus inch ones, there is a very large one that has almost Dehua like quality to its facial features.
Forgive me if I missed it but how tall is this one?
I would like to see some close ups of it, especially of the enamels ( the more translucent ones and the hard looking pink), also you will need clearer pics to get a good assessment from Peter. I share a few of the concerns with others here, but I also think with better pictures we could have a better idea.
Cheers,
Jeremy
PS I have never clicked this quote button before so I hope this doesn't look to funky or crazy when it posts.
I wanted to add a side by side comparison the others are from majors auction houses.
Hi,
Your figure is genuine,late Qianlong. I had an almost identical piece as I had a set as shown in your later group photo.
I have one of the series for sale at the moment.
The are not works of art,mass produced but genuine with bright enamels.
@jbeer2121 as soon as I get home I will send you new photos, maybe to clean up some of the base.
@jbeer2121 @julia @lotusblack @shine
Good evening,
I took more detailed photos:
- you can see the colors and details of the face better ;
- it is craquele ;
- the glaze flaws, including the burns and color deficiencies ;
- I noticed one important thing, the porcelain on the hand and on the ribbons coming down from the head is very dull compared to that of the head ;
- I washed a piece of the base, it was dirty, I will highlight the washed part. Also there are some inscriptions that I can't make out.
There also seems to be a vent hole on the base.
@shine Yours actually seems to have more pronounced details on the face, and the paste is matte.
Mine seems to have the details of the ones posted by @julia, the Shangrila ones. Incidentally, in Shangrila's shop there are also others with less pronounced details and semi-transparent glaze.
There is a Chinese art expert in my town, maybe I will try to show it to him as well and let you know.

The new photos are much better and have made me change my opinion the old photos I believe might have been saturated in color. But the new photos let us see the entire piece differently. It’s hard to see what you see when you’re holding it. The facial features are also more defined this time it doesn’t look so molded.
@lotusblack I will perhaps try to clean the whole base and try to have it appraised. If you need more photos just write, no problem. You seem very knowledgeable, certainly more so than me 😀
