@steve Yes, we are both well, husband had RSV even though he had a vaccination in the Fall, but doctor said it would have been worse without the vaccine, so we are already staying away or wearing a mask when going into a shop, but what I had was a stomach crud going through town and had to have picked it up the first week back to church. The synod Bishop should have used the Pandemic to end that passing of the peace business forever and I saw online that they did end it for a time. I have loathed that ever since the ELCA Lutherans started doing that in the nineteen-eighties, you should have seen how awkward that scene was, "what's up with the glad handing," excuse me, nature calls. If someone sticks their hand out at me, I'm not leaving them hanging. Still got it even lathering up with hand sanitizer, which all the people around me could smell, made a silent statement, symbolic speech. I was just told that after conferring with the doctor's office, he will be attending choir practice tonight, my response was a rolling of the eyes, also symbolic speech. That is where he caught the RSV, because he was up in the choir loft during the Passing of the Peace, I might have to join choir, except they are needing a Soprano and according to Glee Club, I have always been Alto. Plus, singing has always been his thing, at Great Lakes, instead of marching around learning to be a sailor, he sang around Chicago in the Blue Jacket Choir.
@steve Can't live life in a bubble, probably just as well getting exposed and hopefully building immunities. I hope the vases happen, if so, it is meant to be and do be a hard bargainer. I'm happier having my teapot instead of my doll and a young colleague told me those fifties dolls creeped her out, after seeing my '56 Saucy Walker doll in a Christmas photo sitting in an old child's chair. I purchased that chair in the seventies at a farm auction at Vienna, Missouri, used Shaker Tapes to weave a new seat while in my Martha Stewart phase in the late seventies. The German Communities between Rolla and Jefferson City, Missouri had some terrific farm auctions if you were into primitive country accessories and I was into it, loved Country Living Magazine and American Heritage Magazine. Loved regabbing old house starting in '78 and ending in '81, when my husband said after selling, "we will never live in an old house again." Had two offers on that house after 10 days on the market, never sold another house as fast, in fact the company had to buy two of them because of market downturns and they wanted to transfer my husband. Fine, let them worry with it, best way to finally get a transfer, put in a pool. I longed for a transfer and joked with my pals that I would have that on my headstone, Transferred.
@sharonp After sleeping on it, I decided that I really don't have the room. Of course, I may change my mind again. Trouble is, my partner doesn't like Imari. Can you believe it? Blue and white & famille rose is OK, though, go figure.
A lot of dolls creep me out, too. Especially the larger ones like "Patty Playpal."
@steve Yes, I must admit that Bridesmaid doll looks creepy in that photo from Christmas 1957 but luckily the Antique dealer liked her and goes to doll shows, hope she finds a good home with someone. I'd rather have the teapot. I was too old for a Barbie, but my little sister had one of originals and should have kept it. Now there was a creepy doll. I love Imari, but yes better to find something you both like and I do like smalls more and more. I have an old German figure that is rather large and creepy of a boy playing a violin to some ducklings beehive mark and an 18th century dressed guy stratling a chair with arms folded atop back of chair, used to sit atop my piano. I can't get rid of those but they are packed away, also some old German wood figures, one of a Scottie dog on skis, dealer thought it was carved by a German POW, but that may have been true or maybe not, also a little wooden couple that was a present to the in-laws soon after they married, one of my husband's Uncles grew up speaking German in Missouri and served in the Army in France during the war to listen to the Germans after D-Day. My Dad served in Italy in the 10th Mountain Division, so I have collected little tin ski toy from thirties to sit next to the Scottie on skis, can't get rid of those items. If I lived in San Jose those would be mine, but I have hesitated on lots of things, but I tell myself if I get rid of other things and keep to smalls, then I can still collect.
@steve Good old Teddy the progressive, taught a section on him as a student teacher and later, one of my favorites, lots of good copy, to paraphrase "I can control Alice or run the country, I can't do both." Congratulations looking forward to seeing in a future post, I think he won the Nobel for negotiating peace. I'll look that up in my Funk and Wagnell's (Wickipidia).
