Hello everyone,
I would like to share an object with which I am completely lost identifying. Except for an indication that it may be of Chinese origin, I have no clue. Any possibility of being a brush washer? Could it really be Chinese or did I lose the track here? The material is also strange ... the yellow part is glaze, but at the base there is a layer of this white material that resembles plaster ... Any information will be of great help!

What are it's dimensions ? From the photo's it does not look Asian to me. From the shape it looks like a scoop maybe for bird seed ? Should not really state the obvious but a bird bath for one ? not poking fun but that bird looks at home in the tub.

Thanks for the comments! I am considering that it is not Chinese or even Asian. Regarding the use, as you said, it must really be a container for feeding birds. There are these little holes in the glaze that can be the result of pecking! However, I think it is a little big for a bird cage: it is 8cm tall and 19cm wide, which makes me think that it was used outdoor, and maybe that white paste on the base was to be attached to some outdoor structure. Anyway, thank you all very much! @Shinigami Thank you! I think I'll keep it a little longer before I think about selling, at least until I discover the country of origin! If I find out I'll update here!

It may be Victorian. It has something humorous about it, like Martin Bros pieces. It also looks like what we refer to as majolica. Maybe worth looking into.

I cleaned the bottom and it looks like it's made of white clay.
Julia, thanks for the reference of the Martin Bros, I didn't know their ceramics .. Very interesting! I remember having seen one of these strange face-jugs a few years ago and asked myself the origin ... Very nice!

It's a Chinese Tang style Sancai / yellow-brown glazed cup. I don't think it's of the period (Tang dynasty), but nicely done. It's not easy to identify Sancai ware just from images. Too many good reproductions.
