Here we go. It was quite dark in there but as I was the only one viewing, I moved it to a brighter spot.
The first picture is very poor - sorry! There is one very distinctive feature which isn't apparent in the earlier ones and could be a make or break. There is a lot of orange peel on the horizontal surfaces. It may be on the rest, too, but not as obvious.
It is also quite thinly potted, which should also be clearer with these photos.

Thank you for posting the additional pictures. The other panels are attributes to Wang Yeting and either Liu Yucen or Cheng Yiting.
I still think it's probably early PROC. So early 1950's. Without handling said it can be at the best of times difficult. I definitely don't think it's of a later production.
I know and respect dear Birgits thoughts as well as other people who have posted their thoughts etc. So it's either republic period or early PROC. It's nothing special imo due to the sub-standard painting but it's pretty much ok for close to the open bid if you like it. I would not go crazy though.

Thanks, Mark. I won't go crazy! I may not even bid as there are a couple of things that I am convinced about and possibly have a profit in them, they will come first.
This has been very interesting though, as I know so little about mid-century pieces. Clearly the orange peel effect is not an issue, which is good to know.

after the last pictures, the wear does look a bit more natural than what I previously thought based on the first pictures. The colors and the way the birds and flowers are painted are 100% not republican. I agree with mark, second half of the 20th century,
I also have changed my mind based on these latest pictures - the slab constuction is more refined than I thought , it just has a wide rim; and the panels with the mountains and the large bird are nice and better than the panel with fish; I wouldn't be concerned by the orange peel as it looks a natural result of firing rather than something contrived.
I would say this could be republican , or possibly 1950s; if it's cheap then it might be worth it.

Interesting to see how it will go. The only panel that comes remotely like the masters is the Wang Yeting attribute (blue black mountain etc).
Out of curiosity could you please let us know how much it sells for.

Sure, the only thing is it may be deceptive as very often often something looks to have sold, only for it to re-appear in the timed auction so either buyer didn't pay or auctioneer was bidding it up.
Normally, I would hope to pick something like this up cheaply at the timed auction and keep out of the bidding as I never can tell how genuine that is. It would be interesting to clean it, have a better look at it outside, but only at a price that means I could re-sell it if necessary, with my integrity intact, and hope to get my money back.

I am not sure it sold. I didn't bid. I would have had I been able to get it for the opening bid but the auctioneer bid it up quickly to the lower estimate £30 and I don't know if anyone actually bid on it or not. I don't mind pcking it up really cheaply if no one else is interested but I don't like being forced to pay a little more if no one else is interested.
I'll see if it turns up in the timed auction.
The bottom looks like orange peel, so it is on a newer piece, this was a fascinating thread, thank you.
