It is back , our Qing bowl is back 🙂 ( i have dibbs on it)
A new seller. Also this seller has quite a few items in need of restoration. He is selling them it would seem at a loss. If he got this for £12 and paid the postage of £8. He is going to be £6 out of pocket.
Certainly the rule for not buying damaged items is a golden rule if you want to sell them for a profit.
The sellers does seem to have many items that are genuine and selling for as little as 0.99p so grab a bargain. Ends in 1 day
If it is a bargain, keep it as a study example. The flowers on the outer wall are so beautiful.

I am not selling it Xin. I just found it on ebay ( again) 🙂
I have never sold anything on ebay. To be honest if i was to sell something I would go through an accomplished ebay seller and offer them 12% commission. However I have few thing of such value that i could, maybe the odd plate. There is one seller in Ireland that is a regular but he doesn't get very high prices but he is followed.
However I might buy it as just that a good study example.
I wonder why he /she is selling it so soon, maybe because of the damage to the base , which cannot be fixed satisfactorily , and the general wear on the inside - both mean this is not a good display piece.
The shape is interesting , and its age makes a difference, but personally I think the decoration on the outside is quite ordinary for export wares - if the inside was not worn, it would be more attractive.
Most of his export stuff seems to have damage, and the wucai bowl listed as 'qing dynasty', with a ming mark, and up to £200 now , seems a bit dodgy to me.

I am baffled too Tam, He is going to make a loss on it. Unless he is the same seller and this is a different account, I do recognize the Seller's window display so he does sell, or has been selling Antique's before. He used to sell mobile phones so it could actually be from log ago that i recognize him.
Xin,
You are the one of the best appraisers on bidamaount, and no doubt you have a suspicion i am the seller as i often compare selling phones to selling Antiques. This new seller used to sell Mobile phones, and most of his items are damaged just the fodder for the kind of items i am always posting about.
One thing i have learned is the compelling power of coincidence. Take Jack the Ripper. There are 24 suspects and every time you read about the next new one, it is compelling that they are Jack the Ripper. The rules of coincidence 🙂
All i can say is I am innocent.
The flowers as Xin says are beautiful and I agree they are lovely. The only people making a profit on this Chinese Qing Famille Rose are the Post office. This is what I meant when i said items will depreciate and get destroyed in the amount of time's they are shipped about. This is not the first item that I have seen shipped around.
I know you're innocent ?
You're right, the post offices are the winners at the end.

I so try never to bother you guys with advice, but i am curious are these really Kangxi or 19th Kangxi style. I am guessing they are 19th century Kangxi style?
Anyway they are going for £2 but £8 postage. I asked the seller about combining post and she said depending on the item that she would always do her best to combine postage.
Hi Short dong , can you post the ebay link to these plates ? thx
tam
Somehow I like these, the rim and the simplicity of the painting look quite unusual. I guess they have some age because of the incorrect 3dimensional view of the tables, something the Chinese painters learned rather late, it is part of the charm of old pieces.

The seller has said she had gotten items for restoration and unfortunately she cannot get them restored, so she is selling them. Which is a huge shame as i think she may make loss overall.
All the same seller Tam, she does have some amazing stuff selling for peanuts, but most of it damaged. I do not understand why she cannot get the charger restored for example. It may also be a case of it was not worth it financially.

Looks like 19th C. stuff.

I just want the famille rose dish 🙂
I was tempted by this big charger, it was selling for just .99p, however the postage was very expensive. It was show cased as an 18th century Qianlong. I guess no one here got anything. I think Tam showed an interest in those Plates but they were one of the few items to sky rocket.
My dish is still at £9.99 but i am still not sure if to get it.

That big Charger sold for 0.99p 🙂
Hi Short Dong, I got confused and didn't realise they were all from the same seller.
The most interesting to me was that qianlong charger which was very beautiful, and very cheap, in the end! A great display item, and very good decoration. Someone got a great bargain . Standard postage in the UK was £12 so I don't think that's unreasonable for such a big item. Sending to Ireland of course may add an extra amount. I live in China so I hardly ever buy on ebay because of the high postage cost (and possibility of damage or loss in transit). I have sent boxes of stuff to myself from the UK to China, and they get thrown around in transit and things get broken.
I have a friend here who regularly buys stuff online from auction houses in the US and UK, and he can spend hundreds of pounds on courier service and postage. He obviously thinks it's worth it, but he does not buy cheap, damaged things. US postage costs are crazy now.
The two plates you showed also had nice decoration in a C18th style and as Xin said they look like C19th export - £92 was a bit steep perhaps, but the subject matter is not so common on export pieces .
One of the qianlong blue and white tankards with the crack across the base was also very nice , and £11 is another bargain , but it shows you how much damage can affect prices. The seller probably got estimates for repairs and restoration and decided it just wasn't worth the risk and investment. I suspect good restoration is very hard to do, and often the client will not be satisfied so it's difficult . You do see lots of bad restoration.

The art of calligraphy - and for the ancient Chinese it certainly was an art - aimed to demonstrate superior control and skill using brush and ink. Calligraphy established itself as one of the major Chinese art forms during the Han dynasty (206 BCE - 220 CE), and for two millennia after, all educated men were expected to be proficient at it.
