A friend of mine received this as a graduation present from his grandmother in the 50s. She thought it was Korean. Any ideas on age?

I had told him I thought 19th century but I wanted to make sure I was on the right track.
What a lovely gift! I can't answer your question but I am sure some one else may be able to. There looks to be a textured surface, or is it just on the base?

He truly loves it, he is a dealer in European and American silver, think early rare, royal objects, and has a personal collection of many rare pieces that blow my mind, yet this vase is his favorite piece. I do not remember it being textured, it may light shining through a screen. The crane has these very long subtle legs that you really need to see in light so I asked for a shot in the sun. Now the base has some glaze flaws, so that may be what you are referring to, or seeing, in which case, the rest is fairly smooth and not pockmarked.

@jbeer2121 I looked at examples of Korean bottle vases with blue crane decoration to compare the bases and I do think you are right on track with 19th century, but the examples shown were all over the place with dating. One with a signed similar base had been given a 1900 date. I see why it would be a loved gift even without the Grandmother connection. Sharon
