Is this 10 inch bulb vase a Fukagawa?
Is it a low Quality or high quality Item?
Is it Meiji or modern..

I do not believe this is a genuine Fukagawa piece. The detail is lacking, almost simplistic and not in line with known examples especially from late 19th early 20th century. I can't comment on much later pieces still being produce today.
No mark visible on said. As far as I know all the 19/20th were all marked in some way from scented orchid to other.
From pictures I would believe IMO that this example is low quality and post 1960.

Although I no little regarding Japanese wares, I would agree with Mark and his dating.
This is quite low quality, look how the blue has been applied and spread/run into/over some of the other designs, and the compositions/drawing of the geo-metric designs - rather poor in several areas!!

I do not own this item, It was listed in a sellers auction along with a Japanese Cloisonne both of which i had the highest bid for several days. As the timer came to the end of the sellers auction, the sniper bids came in. One bidder fought quite vigorously with me for that vase i posted above.
I did go on to win the Cloisonne a few minutes later but that Vase got snatched from me from at the last second . I chased his bid but he got it. He didn't want the 19th century 10" Cloisonne enamel Mica vase!
I wanted the vase, to compliment other items so i could justify postage, and was expecting more interest from bidders. I was kind of sniping my own bids 🙂
I curious, why this bidder would seek that vase and over look the cloisonne Vase which went on to sell a few minutes later for 0.99p!
I was embarrassed buying it for .99p so I got another buy it now item, a book for £1.50 and paid for both postage before the seller could even ask or combine as way to make up for the ver low price he got for the cloisonne. Anyone ever feel guilty getting something for almost nothing?
I might point out the Cloisonne has a small dent, but is otherwise in perfect condition. My only interest in the bulb vase was to compliment or combine items. I bid the buyer up to £7 and then let him have it, my twisted logic was if he wanted my cloisonne as which was next, then he would have exhausted some of his funds on this worthless bulb vase.
I was insulted when he didn't bid against me and was embarrassed paying just 0.99p for it. So naturally i assume he knows something i don't and this bulb vase is in fact a highly desirable Fukagawa.

Personally, I much prefer the cloisonne piece, much better quality and a steal at the price paid!!? ?

Nice bit of wrangling on the bids. Enjoyed that story quite a bit and have never been lucky enough to buy below shipping costs. Maybe my max bids are too high? Hmmm.....
