The closest mark I can get to this is xienfeng but the 2nd character is slightly different. Is this a good mark.
Thankd
richard
True Xianfeng should have a greyish body that is rather course. A bit like Tongzhi. 21st century in my personal opinion because people are craving the Xianfeng mark.

thanks for the feedback
Yes I’ve not seen a foot rim on a brush pot like this before.
normally rounded or flat or with a smaller circular
I’ll steer clear.
it’s up for auction 200-300 estimate
it’s up for auction 200-300 estimate
The estimate shows that the seller isn't convinced either. Real Xianfeng should fetch a lot more. I paid EUR 480 for a small bowl.

I have found it. I wondered how Birgit knew the etimate. 😆 I didn't know there were auctions in Redhill. Richard, you must live in the same area I used to.
At a quick glance this might be quite convincing but there are some odd things about the decoration. The man's hand is strange - too big or floppy? The other figure has a line around the face that is thicker than one would expect. I found the diagonal marks on the inside rather unusual, too.
I do have a question though: is it usual for porcelain painters to just put pretend writing on books? I saw one the other day and it caught my eye because it seemed unexpected when so much of the decoration includes script.
Yes the lines on the inside seem odd too.
I've looked at it too, I think the decoration is good, but as Julia pointed out, that hand is a bit odd, it might just be because hands are notoriously difficult to paint. To me it looks like the line on the other face, to which Julia is referring, is the cord holding the headgear in place, I don't find anything there suspicious. I'm not convinced the rim is gilded, it might just be a light brown dressing, or maybe it was restored at some point, because you would expect it to have more wear if it was 150+ years old. There is a line of gild around just above the bottom, and it has the kinda wear you would expect to see from a piece of 19th century porcelain that has been handled. The inside lines look mostly like dirt, without actually handling it, it is hard to be sure.
I guess it could be a copy, but normally the faces on these Wu Shuang Pu copies are pretty easy to spot, these look authentic.

I think peters mentioned before the hands are always awkward to draw, sometimes seem elongated and look like they are facing backwards.
the foot is different to what I’ve seen before.
the eyes look good in my view but can’t be sure if genuine.
appreciate the feedback
