Just another neophyte here in the steep learning curve of what are likely common items, but any advice as to age, origin, and identification of style of these two bowls would be super helpful. thank you!

P. S. Since orange peel effect shows up on modern pieces (well mid-century pieces) how does it help with age determinations? Does it have to be there for certain period pieces? Sharon

I think it is a bit complicated, myself. I know it is OK on certain things but you wouldn't expect to see it on others. It is a bit hard to explain easily without examples. Maybe we should ask Peter if he would do a blog post on acceptable and unacceptable orange peel.
