Hi, picked this up today, unsure how old it might be (or not be). Anyone seen this one before?

Hi Michael,
it‘s slip cast and the black outlines seem printed or stamped, not old in my opinion. BUT it’s really beautiful and nicely made, very decorative. Probably modern but could well be tomorrow’s antique. Nice find.
Birgit
Looks amazing, if not that old then republic/1950 with a possibility of later. Looks awesome. The topography of the mountain scape is ingenious. Lovely colours.
Hi Michael,
Wow some of you guys must so much have better screens than me I cant see any mountains or black out lines. Time for an upgrade I think.
Anyway for what it's worth from what I can see the girl has a Japanese face and Geisha's wear neck scarfs like that.
Expect to be told it's a boy Michael you definitely need a better screen.
Michael
She does look to have a Japanese face, I don't know about the scarf, but slip cast, probably post 1950 and beautiful!
You’re right about the Japanese face. No matter where I watch them, smartphone or desktop, the pictures in this forum always slide upwards a bit after a second, so I can’t really see the top of them.
Birgit
Hi Michael -
High quality and very well decorated - the face/kimono looks Japanese to me - lovely piece ...

That happens to me, too. I often have to enlarge the photos on the screen without clicking on them.

Hi Birgit, there is a trick to see the full pictures. Right click on them, and a menu should appear. Somewhere in that menu it should say something like "Show picture" or something similar.

Thanks a lot Michael, that works!

You're welcome!
I was a bit to tired to respond to everything yesterday (not enough sleep and having spent around 9 hours at an outside market), but today in daylight I've studied the piece in more detail.
I have a vase that I bought about a year ago, that has clearly printed outlines (solidly black). The outlines on this figurine do not look like that, they are way more 'watery', there are spots where it looks more like brush stroke with slight piling towards the end of the stroke, something that I can't say there is on the vase I'm comparing it to. I admit, I'm not 100% sure about all the ways that outlines could be transfered, so maybe it is just a difference in age and technology used.
There is also a mention of slip cast, but when I look inside the hole at the bottom, it looks like two halves put together, and the head also looks like it was separately attached, would there be those kind of signs if it was slipcast? It is also very uneven and rough on the inside (like it was worked by hand), which again I wouldn't expect to see on something slipcast?
I also forgot to mention yesterday, that the figurine is 25cm tall and fairly heavy.

Good catch, Julia! There are definately some similarities, the way that the individual strands of hairs are painted on each side of the head, the way the eye brows and eyes are made, as well as the mouth. Mine doesn't have as much pink in the cheeks, but it is a very close match. I would also say that the level of detail in the robes, is about equal. the only major difference is the color palette. I also think that from the dark spots on the foot of mine, it is likely that it has had a wooden stand of some kind.
It will be interesthing to see what it ends up selling for! 😀 (I payed $15 for mine, don't hate me!!!)

Hi Michael -
Personally I think the overall detailing on yours is much - and for $15 it's an absolute steal ..!!?
