Has anyone seen a Chinese vase with this much glaze before, it looks very thick and masks a lot of the cobalt.

I would be suspect because of the base. I don’t remember seeing that extra ring made in that way around the inside of the foot rim on genuine pieces, but I’m just learning. So, not a lot of help.
Ming dynasty. Probably Wanli. Vase from a Shipwreck. Unless not just sea salt - there is something else what can affect glaze in such way (?)
It does have the look of shipwrecked pieces, but that can be faked. How is it described?
There are various websites discussing the finds on the well-known wrecks. You could check the shape and decoration against those. This might be a good place to start:

Ming Meiping vases were constructed by luting several different sections together horizontally. These should be able seen, and certainly felt, when handled …

Thanks, I understood what you meant and I didn't say it wasn't genuine, but on the portable device I am using the photos are not showing enough detail for me to even think about commenting on whether I think it is authentic. Besides, I think it is always worth checking shape and decoration against known examples. 😊
The shape is different for me too, but could someone comment on that base foot ring? I haven’t seen one with that extra little step down or however you would describe it on the foot ring itself.
I would love to buy this vase off you as a fake. How much?
This vase doesn’t look correct the Phoenix is rendered differently from known examples in my books the oxidation is also strange.

how far apart roughly should the luting lines be on a vase this size, approximately 10” tall
could a thick glaze hide these luting lines.
I suspect the thick glaze is trying to deceive me
