Greetings all,
Have been too busy to put a lot of research into this one; but from the hour or two I have it's been inconclusive at best.
I've asked around 3 people; and as it tends to go - received 3 different answers 🤣
One of them was a little early even for my wishful thinking (and had been referred to as the "birthday pattern" which I also am skeptical of, as those tended to feature 4 circles in harmony on a yellow ground and distinctly late Qing in appearance/markings from my understanding), and the other two suggestions were early republic period (1920s-30s) and mid-century (50s-60s).
With how it tends to go for me, I'm going to assume mid-century unless told otherwise, maybe even later..?
When compared to my Famille Rose cup (I believe 1920s-1930s), it is just a tad bit more heavy, and the foot on the cup is thicker/more blunt with rounded edges instead of that early 20th century "thin vertical walled" foot we all know and love; but the plate shares that later element more-so than the prior one.
Late Qing pieces and earlier Republic pieces also seem to feature more "abstract" bats in my experience, with exaggerated wing curves and a more liquid appearance in the application & ect..
The wear on the enamel and sloppiness of the overglaze on the plate's underside borders all-but guarantee it's not suitable for the international collector's market; but I wanted to make sure I was accurate in my listing of it on my vintage site shoppe page.
As always, thanks for the help - despite the enamel damage it's not the worst piece I've come across I suppose.
Best regards,
-JRN
Hi JRN, I would agree with 1950/60s. As so often a helpful site is watersilkdragon, search for the entry „contemplating Buddha‘s countenance“. You will find many older examples and see how they should look like.

@shinigami
Always thankful for your ever-so-keen eye! Much appreciated per usual
Watersilkdragon should be a standard issued guide for anybody like me who struggles to distinguish between the decades of differences from the late 19th to mid-20th with quite some frequency. Now if only I could follow my own prior statement.. 😆
(Thanks again for the help! The page on Wan Shou Wu Jiang was when I first stumbled across that blog earlier in this year, sadly forgot about it until none other than @imperialfinegems sent me a familiar link. Glad I remembered to bookmark that time..)
Best,
-JRN
