@shinigami this seller always have high shipping cost. at least for me in the US. His shipping are not cheap. 🙂 but maybe just his way of setting.
To be fair the cost of shipping UK to US has gone through the roof this last year. I used to sell a lot to the States but I think my new shipping prices have scared them off. I try to swallow some of it, but when import taxes etc are added in, too, it just becomes too much for many buyers.
I think his dating is fine on these. Interesting last picture. Is that a transfer? I haven't noticed that before - or maybe it is a repair?
@julia I'm sure he/she has their reasonings for setting shipping like that. It's just.... at $100 for shipping, I really can't bid a fair price for them. And yeah, last picture... is interesting. I didn't know they are making transfers on prunus jars now. but really no explanation of the break. doesn't look like a repair to me.

These ginger jars look OK for 19th century to me. Could be even early 20th century. It's a little difficult to determine by way of the pictures. Since there are no images of the insides.
The shipping cost considerably it's 6 jars is not expensive at £69. Especially from the UK!
I know Peter has recommended him in the past but I have been warned by others to be very careful dealing with him.

I didn't see that before. Even in picture 9 is also dubious.
On reflection I don't think these are 19th but later examples. Whether they are from the 2nd half of the 20th century I can't tell but it wouldn't surprise me.

in the last photo, it looks like the rim has been stenciled or printed because of the overlap?
@shinigami Were they Export Porcelain? and how to define export vs others? Prunus blossom is a very common design in China, so I would not think they were, however there are a lot of them on the market, just like "landscape" scenery which is categorized to Export Porcelain. Well appreciated with your help. Thanks.
@yinchris maybe common in china from an earlier period. The design became very popular in the west. I forgot who... something about a famous dealer in London had a display of them. and it caught on with everyone. Then this same type/jar in the later half of 19th century + 20th century are all export oriented.
@imperialfinegems could be a mix. which.... is really not great because pictures are all jumbled up. hard to tell which photos are for which jar.

Shipping is becoming a scam cost more to ship than the item. You can fly for cheaper than to ship a package. But the market for Asian antiques is hot right now. I have had no one complain yet. Well except the guy the usps lost is package that cost 99 cents
@lotusblack haha he/she probably was excited for getting your item for 99 cents. And then... disappointed when that didn't come true.
