Always the best Auction in Dublin for a real good bargain. Usually No reserve and sell everything even if it's for £2 or £5 if your online. A Peter always says...Leave a bid, definitely true for these guys.I noticed some Asian Art dotted about in the auction.

the items may be bargains, but the photography is terrible , so you couldn't bid just based on one photo taken in terrible light from a strange angle.
The Japanese 'post Meiji' floor vase in the next sale could be interesting, for example, it's unusual with the script, but there are so many reflections , and the photo is so dark, I can't tell whether the vase is solid, or moulded and shaped on the body.
How long does it take to take a reasonable photo? I know these auctions deal with hundreds of lots and items per week , and don't have fancy studios or places to store and view items separately , but really ? It's very good for the buyer who can attend in person and view.

Yes, It is a must attend kind of auction. However i will mention this to them. When they have their Asian Art auction they do take more care to picture, but these auction's are more general House auctions and they do not pay much attention to the details of Porcelain.
I think i know what your referring, it is the big blue and white jar. I have that ticked for viewing. So i will be checking it out.
Do you mean this thing! 🙂 Looks mad and also huge.
Yeah I meant the big brown thing , but I can't see how old it is - it has a kind of victorian majolica umbrella stand look , but it could also be much newer. The brown /black cutaway shapes on the body are very odd and seem 3D almost, but the reflections in the photo completely obscure most details , of the moulded upper and lower parts for example.
The other thing I didn't see - it looks modern chinese from the photo, is it a covered jar, or a small garden stool /chair? I can't properly see its size.
tam
I think it's a small garden stool too. Pretty new.

Hi Xin_Fawis
Yes, that is listed as post peoples republic or post republic. The big umbrella stand is listed as Post Meiji. However they will usually err on the side of caution and list later date than earlier. So you can get surprises.
I think this maybe the Jar that Tam mentioned.
of bulbous form, decorated with flora and fauna, 4 character mark to base, together with a blue and white porcelain crock
I posted the second picture that accompanies it, as i am not sure which the backmark relates.
I spotted this
If you look underneath you can see Mandarin meat dish. So i am going to check it out. However it appears it might be damaged. Also the canton look like modern Knock off's and since they are part of the collection. I am no sure it is worth bidding on.
COLLECTION OF ORIENTAL AND OTHER PORCELAIN
The blue and white jar (penciled pattern) looks new to me, need hands on check.

I know and that is my concern, as someone may think they are Famille rose export and unwittingly bid up the price, and also it pressures the price of the meat dish because the canton is just junk for me. However i guess i could try sell it off and cover the cost of the Mandarin
On reflection this has 1809 CE sticker on it. Indicating it is from 1809. Not sure about that but they do have an expert in house.
CE1809 is just an in-house reference I think , this jar looks new, as do most of the other things.
the canton set could be OK, ie not brand new , maybe 1950s or 60s, but it's a shame the teapot is missing the lid. To be honest , I can't see them clearly enough in these photos. The teapot , tray/meat dish under it and saucers nearby are all 'canton export rose mandarin', and look to have the same pattern, so I don't know why you think the meat dish is different from the other items .... maybe I'm confused.....

Hi Short dong,
It would appear that most of the items listed in the Asian section are mostly new or modern.
However that does not automatically rule them out for profit. I note that items are to be sold without reserve. If you can buy said items for a couple of dollars each and or thereabouts you can sell them later at a nice profit, assuming you have space.

Hi Tam,
It looks authentic in comparison. Also the design of meat dish mandarin is closer to the original style and further from the modern fake Canton ( or modern copies ) style. I shall know for certain by Wednesday. I think it is a stand alone item distinct from the canton copies.
