These are kind of fun for me, mostly because I will never have the answer to the initials and it is fun to suppose. They're an unrecorded (perhaps because they appear uninteresting) pair of plates that bear the initials "FMD". This design seems to be unique for monogram pieces - usually, it is the blue ermine mantle with a shield containing the monogram, or something similar. Here, we see the shield resting upon a tree overlooking a waterfall. I have not found any other pieces showing this exact design. A similar idea, but different design can be found in the Clarke of Sanford service: CLICK HERE TO SEE THAT ONE! (I'll put links like this from now on to clean up posts)
The near-identical service, dating to c. 1790, but bearing the arms of Reynes can be found in Howard’s, “Chinese Armorial Porcelain”, Vol. 2, p. 560. (Photo attached). Instead of an armorial device, we see the initials, and in place of the crest, a ribbon delicately wraps around the branches.
Perhaps these monogram plates were made for a captain or supercargo who was associated with the Reynes service, or perhaps it was simply made for someone and had no coat of arms and who was a fan of the design, almost certainly taken from an engraving or bookplate.
I've searched through EIC records for a captain, supercargo, or similar with the initials "FD" (in case it represents the initials of a husband and wife), or "FMD" to no avail. The hunt for the source engraving/bookplate continues, but I have been less successful on that front compared to my other en grisaille plate.

Thank you, Sharon! You're much too kind. I think the mystery will hover at the back of my mind for a while - I love these plates, but with no helpful provenance and the dead-end on passenger/captain/supercargo lists with the EIC, I have no more leads! The source for the design is the next step, so I'll update here if I eventually find it.
I suspect it's a husband named "FD" and a wife named "MD", as many initials with three letters are a couple for these.
Lovely! May I make a suggestion? Might it be better to position the stickers off centre? It may just be me, but when I see something covering where a mark might be on Chinese pieces, I have an urge to lift it up and check. 😊
Thank you, Julia! I've had these plates for a while and when I ordered some stickers, I went on a sticker spree with all of my pieces. I'm probably going to redesign it soon since I'm not as big a fan as I was initially. You won't have that trouble with these stickers though! They are transparent.
