I think you may be right. Either they are the same vase or they are different but transfer printed.

It seems I am exactly wrong 🙂 They can and do have defects in the exact same place.
Perhaps there are 2 forms of Defect.
1. Defect on the Mask ( Master mould) which will effect an identical defect on each and every vase produced using that Mask.
2. A process defect which will unique to different batches and groups of vase's produced. So relatively unique. Certainly a means to distinguish between 2 vases from the 20th century that were produced sold maybe a few years apart.
3. General defects like chips and cracks and unique marks. Best means to distinguish, as Carl did with his Vase from the RM vase.
Yes, because the 12 Franklin mint vases currently have a bid of €4, which is €3 too much.

I posted using the word 'definately' as opposed to definitely. The Master I was referring too was in fact H. I had agreed with Dan earlier when he ruled out painting by hand, as the copies we too exact.

Surely, the RM vase and Carl’s vase are either a)the same vase or b) they are both transfer printed, made using the same copper plate to produce the transfer?
I'd think so. maybe the buyer of the RM one (note one not two - how did that translation go so wrong!) realised it wasn't what they thought.
Well, do you know, I have been thinking all along that this vase looked rather Japanese but I have found nothing at all to back that up so was too embarrassed to suggest it. But, I am amazed, this is the base of a Franklin mint version:

I remember buying 3-4 of these miniatures as they are attractive representations of famous pieces.
Here is a savvy seller that knows vintage when he sees it 🙂 Notice it too has exactly the same defect in the same place, these types of defect must come from the Master Mould.

Obviously totally different from Chinese pieces but luckily very few fakes.

They are stunning plates. Very expensive but lovely. I am not sure about their figurines and vases 🙂 but they got the plates so right, almost gothic looking.
Figurines are very rare West Country 18th c creamware.
