Old Miriam Haskell costume jewelry goes for big bucks, if the piece is from thirties-fifties, I would not be surprised if she was using actual jade, as real jade was also used in better quality American made costume jewelry creations often in rolled gold (gold filled/plated) as late as the sixties and beyond. Sold in jewelry stores and department stores.

@john-steward Tell him I'm a fan of his appearances on Antiques Roadshow and was a fan of the late Rhinestone Rosie too. Love the necklace.
Hello Sharon
It’s from the 40 yes it’s real jadiete Steven from cats meow tested it with his jem tester I did a couple of tests to make sure. John S
Hi John,
Nice piece of jewellery you have acquired.
Out of interest what kind of gem tester did he use if you know?
Mark
Hello Mark
I don’t know for sure I didn’t ask he going to test my horse for me.He handles high end pieces I’m looking at a piece of ivory he’s has with real ruby eyes that’s ether Chinese or Russia made but I’m a poor boy so I got too save up for it. Thanks for your thoughts like always I appreciate your input.John S.
The reason why I asked is that there a number of these so-called jade testers on the market such as the Presiduim.
However ALL these are not really accurate or accepted within the jade trade. Only proper scientific equipment is recommended. Whilst it's possible to determine if the stone is probably jade it cannot determine if the stone is treated.
The same applies to diamond tester which can accurately tell you whether or not the stone is a diamond. It cannot tell you if it's mined or lab grown. Incendently all lab grown diamonds are actually real diamond in all manner.
Mark
Your right Mark, you have trust who’s your dealing with and know he knows what he’s doing. I trust Steven he very honest I’ve been dealing with him for close to 30 years now. The move industry trust him because he’s knows his business. Testers are just that a tool to let’s you no what you’re dealing with. It’s up to you know what you’re dealing with.Me I believe in science and they are studying jade tool mark I don’t know if you been following this. It was very interesting to see hand turn lay that’s sat on the ground prior to the Ming period. But from Ming to middle of 20 century they use a foot petal lay they motorized in 1950. Have you gone too Met Museum site and looked at the foot petal lay and bow cutting tool and all the tools use in carving very interesting, me I no longer go by tools mark alone because they’re learning that time and human nature alone will Erase marks by consent clean and polishing am not arguing with you know what you’re talking about I always in joy your inputs. Right now I’m just trying to figure age putting the dragon in time and the mark I found on the piece thank For your input John S.
@john-steward Correction, not sure Rhinestone Rosie passed away, in any case, enjoyed her episodes as well. With signed old Miriam Haskell, it really does not matter much about the material used.
That's great that you were able to actually see the old tooling methods. I personally haven't seen them. Only pictures.
Jade carving my friend are very subjective. The older the more subjective.
Rarely would a small group of dealers or collectors who specialise in jade's actually agree with each other opinions. Unlike porcelain and bronzes.
Also its appropriate to mention that even some of the best dealers as a general rule refuse to authentic or give a opinion on unseen or handled jade's.
Mark
Hello Mark
I agree with you Your one in a few that I would trust value one of my pieces I’ve learn pictures will only tell you so much. You have it in your hands to really study it my my necklace it’s took me some time to find the dragon head it had to be turn just right to see it. John S.
