It is the stem cup I posted in the ""identify this ""section 2 weeks ago. It is the first time I am trying to sell this kind of ware on ebay. I'm trying to test how high can bids on ebay go for such items.
If I member of this forum win the auction, I'll gladly ship it for free anywhere in the world. Thanks
If I may say what I think, luckily you have set a minimum starting price. If not, you had a big risk of selling it for almost nothing because you are not well known as seller.
For the same reason, probably it will not sell.
If I were in your shoes, I would have given it to Bonhams.
Anyway, glad to know that we were right.
Giovanni
Yes , I agree this will be a hard sell on ebay , especially as the photos you took are very amateur-ish (sorry!).
Photos sell items and push up prices , there's no doubt , because people on ebay can only buy what they see, and properly lit , properly composed photos enhance the object. Many big sellers use studios with white boxes , and dedicated lighting rigs to get the right effect. If you are likely to sell more high-value items on ebay , I would consider getting someone to help you with the photos. Or photograph in soft natural light with a plain background
Also I think it's true that high starting point auctions put off would-be buyers. You could start lower with a reserve.

Yes I agree, I have to buy a better camera. I would like to start building a good reputation selling things on ebay. For this, I have to start somewhere... But if it doesn't sell, I'll probably just give it to a bond street dealer.
Hi,
Please correct me if I am wrong. The previous listing has ended and you have relisted the same item?

Adrian

yes correct, same item different listing. I figured if I start the bids at $1 and place no reserve it will have more views.

Thanks for coming back to me. I must say I am interested, I want to expand my collection a bit, gradually raising the quality of stock. Are you going to sell it for the ending price even if it won't get close to the Bonham's reserve?
Kind regards,
Adrian

I'm selling it to the highest bidder on ebay, whatever the offer is. If you win, because you are a member here, I'll gladly ship it for free.
That is so tempting and I wish I could, but I simply can't. I hope you get a good price.
Just watched this tick down, the price rocketed at the end. Are you pleased with the result? I didn't see what happened last time.
Being a seller on ebay with very little reputation, I think the price is OK, i'm happy with it. Definitely a great buy for the buyer too. I'll be selling a lot more in the future,
I am glad you are happy. I was feeling quite anxious 2 hours out when I got a reminder that it was ending and the price was only something like 200 dollars! Given that, I felt it did ok. Maybe someone on here bought it. That would be nice.
The carvings are not smooth enough, the footing was made to look like an old piece. Sorry, I think this is a new copy , contradicting to the rest of comments.
Dear Scot,
Longquan Celadon was produced for a period of approximately 600 years from the Northern Song to Qing.
Around 300+ Kiln sites. Despite what many people say, there is a wide variety of clay colours as well as celadon tones and the stem cup looks fine.
