Dear All,
Decided to part with this damaged vase. Have started it pretty low it's about US$ 18.00. If any Bid Amount member wins it let me know via ebay and I will give a helping hand by subsidising the postage cost a little. As a way of saying thank you for all the help I have received here.
Cheers
Michael
It's a big vase, I am sure it will find a new home. I wonder when it was made. The first picture could be better. However you have some very good detail in the third picture, it looks lovely.
Best of luck with the sale Michael.
Dear Short,
When we discussed this vase in the forum some people seemed to think that it could be very late 19th century. Others thought it was 20th century so that's how I have listed it.
Cheers
Michael
Hi Michael,
That was not a good price, someone got that for nothing. Well, I think it is better to list these items as BUY IT NOW. Then just leave them there. It might take many months but eventually it will sell. In fact ebay's auction contradicts the complexity of the Antiques Market in the first place, antiques are meant to take a very long to find a buyer.
However i am not one to complain as i get good items at great value thanks to ebay. Anyway it is sad that vase went for such a bargain. Whomever the buyer is must be very grateful to you.

Ha Ha 🙂 Double take!
Was viewing it again just to measure the size, 37cm and then I realised it never sold. Okay, well that is a relief. To think someone could have gotten that at $25. Well, question is how much do you want for it, then put that on buy it now at a little less than that price and leave it open to offers and people will overtime send you offers, refuse all the offers but try and gauge the price.
Dear Short,
Sorry just noticed your replies and advice. The problem with eabay is that their system only really shows items in the geographical region that they were listed in. The other problem especially with large items is the postage cost, Australia is a long way from anywhere as you know so the postage cost percentage wise compared to the value of the item can make it not worthwhile to overseas buyers should they be smart enough to tune their Ebay searches to include other regions. I think the vase in question will end up at a local auction or maybe find it's self at a charity shop.
Cheers
Michael
Australia is a big Country though and has a large enough population, Ireland has a population of only 4.7 million, and that is an increase of only 200,000 over 25 years.
🙂 Australia is so far away though. So if you were in Queensland you would have a hard time selling it to someone in Canberra. However notwithstanding that problem if you ever struggle to sell something just sell it in the local adverts. Eventually they do sell. The price of an Antique will sell much higher in local systems where access to Antiques is harder, however reaching or finding these small oasis's is not easy.
My suggestion for Austrailia in general would be to use the private Jet's the prison service use to ferry Parcels about the place at an effective cost or the prison service merges with the postal service and create a new cheaper UPS service. Just leave you Vase with the Local drongo and call the cops and the drongo can transport it for free. It's not like he can sell it to anyone. Then when arrives at the Courthouse it can be left at an outgoing parcel depot set up in the courthouse. Then a regional yobbo bring's s it back to the prison that will act as the main parcel depot . Then the parcel is sent with a selected Hoon from the prison to whatever courthouse that is close to the location of the parcel address destination.
Then once there it can be placed into the local postage system. Then this service is paid for by the Hoon when they pay their Traffic ticket. The Drongo get's a cold one and a few ciggy's. The Pommie's get a 5% of the Ticket price.
So what do you think, would i get elected over there. My slogan would be ' Hoons bringing us closer together for Free'.
Dear Short,
Think Australia needs to start treating it's water with whatever it is you use in Ireland.
Cheers
