I got this pair of large jars with lids and although the mark on the base is showing an earlier period, I don't think it is. Also, the surfaces are raised and while the items are all hand colored and symbols of Asian religion, I'm not able to find anything similar. Any advice is welcome! Cheers, Richard

The mark is stamped Xienfeng reign 1851-61.
Ginger jars.
Its difficult to tell from your images. However stamped marks first appeared around 1860's/70's.
Nice pair and I think these are from around the guangxu period 1875-1908.
Xienfeng imperial porcelain is very rare and expensive. Due primarily to the opium wars and very little amount of porcelain was officially produced.

Mark, thanks. It caught my eye and no one else was interested. What images can I share that would help? I have several. The images are raised from the surface and the interior of the pots, indent where the images are raised. I'm assuming that all the images are lucky and auspicious images for Buddhists? Thanks again, anywhere else I can look for comparable?

I did compare the mark and the reference that I found was as follows:
"The Chinese porcelain you're referring to is known as Famille Noire. Famille Noire is a type of Famille Verte porcelain that features a black enamel background with colorful raised images, often depicting floral patterns, birds, and other nature-inspired designs. This style became particularly popular during the Kangxi period (1662-1722) of the Qing dynasty. The black background provides a striking contrast to the vibrant and detailed raised images, making Famille Noire pieces highly distinctive and sought after by collectors. The Famille Noire style, while primarily associated with the Kangxi period of the Qing dynasty, did see some continuation and influence in later periods, including the Jiaqing period (1796-1820). However, the popularity and production of Famille Noire porcelain were not as prominent during the Jiaqing period as they were during the Kangxi period.
During the Jiaqing period, the trends in porcelain often leaned towards different styles and innovations. While there may have been some pieces created in the Famille Noire style or inspired by it, they were less common compared to other styles that were more in vogue at the time, such as Famille Rose, which featured softer pastel colors and intricate designs. The focus during the Jiaqing period included a variety of decorative techniques and styles, reflecting a broader range of artistic expression in porcelain production."

Oh OK my mistake. It's jiaqing not Xienfeng mark. I always have trouble reading them.
Well it's definitely not jiaqing period because the mark is stamped and not written. Stamped mark did not appear until around 1865 or there abouts. But definitely not earlier.
So it's likely to be later 19th or even early 20th Century examples.

Famille Noir became very popular at the end of the 19th century, so popular that many museums have discovered that some vases were over painted with black for background.

"Qianlong seal marks are often written in iron-red or gilt as well as underglaze blue. They can also be incised, stamped or molded in relief. On a small group of porcelain, the so-called ‘Gu yue’ wares, puce and overglaze blue enamel marks appear. Seal marks can be found in a cartouche on the neck of a vase, where the seal has been broken up and is presented in a horizontal format from right to left."
