Hello,
There are jazz standards and there are standards in Chinese porcelain 🙂
Not everyone loves that, I find them attractive.
Genuine Chinese porcelain approx 100 years old with good quality decorations for a reasonable price.
Feel free to ask questions.
Have a great day,
Adrian

Are you sure it's more than 100 years old. The dealer from where I bought the 20th ct. Kangxi style famille verte square vase I talked about here now has a very similar vase with magnolia and birds for sale but that is around 60 cm high. I just talked to him today and he says it's only 30 years old. The guy is quite old himself so it might be his memory and the vase might well be older. He wants 1400 Danish kroner for the vase, which is about half the price you're asking. It would possibly be a good buy though since vases of similar size has sold for fairly good prices on various auctions like these two.
Hi Corey,
Regarding my own item, I have no doubts - it is a very typical late 19th C vase - saying that would be early 20th I find it as a firewall against any comments, which is good if you want to have a clear head from and prevent yourself from further explanations 😉 Personally I don't see those vase being made in Republic Period - this is a different type of wares we are talking about. It has all features of that age and style. Please remember that there is a lot of them on the market, they have manufactured them in significant quantities over decades of production. Because of that many of Chinese antiques enthusiasts don't fancy them at all. I like them, they are getting a bit better reception now than they had recently and it is, as you can see, reflected in prices.
Bukowskis dated theirs as early 20th but to me this is not very accurate - what early 20th C we are talking about as there is a massive difference in 1905 and 1940, isn't there? I am not an expert in this field, I don't pretend I am, however I am learning and at this stage I can claim: I am recognising here all features of blue and white celadon ware typical for Guangxu period - and we can start a discussion of course, what is and what is not typical for this period and if that is corresponding to the item I have listed. In my opinion all is good here, I don't claim it's any earlier than that.
I can't say anything about the vase that you have mentioned, as I haven't seen it. However any type of porcelain ware that is 30 years old will be completely different from mine and those that you have featured above.
Can you take some pictures?
In terms of prices - as you can see, mine is not that expensive. Feel free to check on ebay. On UK version mine should be for the lowest price actually. I think that some of them are well over-priced but there is a clear and visible tendency from the clients to buy them. I have sold some of them in the past and I can see that people are starting to look for them but the sellers are exaggerating a little bit. In my opinion it is not Chinese buyers who are after them, but everyone else 🙂 and the answer with the pricing should be respectfully encouraging - that's my philosophy.
Can you get some photos of yours? Any later copies are quite different, however I don't see too many copies of those, I see a lot of real ones everywhere.
All the best,
Adrian

Hi Birgit,
Many thanks, appreciate your comment. Let me admit something here - I have learn a lot from all the members of this forum and it's very hard for me to overestimate how grateful I am for all your opinions and remarks. Any form of criticism is more than welcome, I am always trying to learn my lesson, revise my own judgements and get to the right conclusions. Since I've joined you all here about a year ago I have learnt a lot from you. Literature is essential, that's the base for any studies in every field, however the deliberation and exchange of thoughts I value the most.
Big thanks to all 🙂
Adrian

regarding b&w on celadon body I think the ginger jars are looking quite cool, better than large baluster vases

Here's a photograph shot through the dealers window. We're having the first real summer days here in Copenhagen, so I've been hanging around all day long with local friends, drinking beers in the hot sun. I'm simply too intoxicated for posting. I'll have to wait untill I get sober... Cheers!
Hi Corey,
Good to know your'e having great time with your friends out there. The weather is indeed encouraging and well waited for!
Have fun mate!

Adrian
