So, I’ve made the sale visible, but I have about a week’s worth of work to do before completing descriptions, condition reports, setting up photo buckets of detailed shots, and more items to add.
Give me a week, and if you have questions, please let me know.
This is my first try, so let’s see how this goes.
Thanks!
All the preliminary photos i for each item being sold for this sale are up!
I’ll get to work on the condition reports and photo buckets.
I’m considering to sell without any reserves on any of the items. I’m on the fence with just a couple of items. So at the very least, most if not all will be sold without reserve.
@yinchris I will handle all international packing and shipping myself. I have 12 years experience with shipping everything from high end porcelains to furniture. The cost will be $10 plus actual costs (shipping and packing material).
Domestic (USA) packing and shipping will be handled by my local pack and ship company. They’re very reasonable, but they don’t like to get involved with customs forms.
Hello everyone! It took me a day longer, but ALL photos buckets and descriptions/condition reports are up!
I would appreciate if anyone comes across a problem accessing photos or if you don't understand how to access the sale, that you please let me know.

I hope everyone walk away with a good buy at a good price. And, if nothing in this sale interests you, just hang on a couple of months. I have more items to come. I just want to make sure the experience is good for both buyers and myself.
Good luck!
Tim
@greeno107 Just let you know, when I went to see the photos on Flickr.com, there are a whole bunch other photos on there without LOT #, are those items coming up soon? BTW You really have an amazing collection!!
@yinchris Thank you!
The additional photos are a document of my journey buying and selling for the past 12 years.
I had good mentors, so not too many costly mistakes I’m happy to say.
Most of the best pieces have been sold many years prior.
That said - I do on occasion sell higher end pieces privately, but prefer cash sales, so that would require local pick up (Florida). Exceptions are made after we build a trust relationship.
If you’re in the area, let me know. [email protected]
@greeno107 I am glad I am not the only person who for some reason that I can't explain collect both Chinese antiques along with Inuit carving and print work. 🤗
@jg1133 Glad you like the photos!
I’m not sure there is a connection with the Chinese pieces, but there is a connection between Japanese woodblock prints and Inuit soapstone carvings interestingly enough.
Traditionally, the Inuit women carved small pieces of stone as keepsakes for when the men who went off into the tundra to hunt. During the 1940-50’s, they had been moved into reserves and were on the verge of starvation, but along came James Houston, a Canadian artist.
James taught the Inuit to make prints in the manner of Japanese woodblock prints, but from stone, depicting everyday life. He also encouraged them to make larger stone carvings, not just of animals, but if people and scenes of Inuit life. Art saved the Inuit culture.
Among the many carvers that James Houston discovered was an artist named Johnny Inukpuk who became famous world wide.
The carving in my Flickr account is of a large example of Johnny Inukpuk (woman and child playing the string game) that I found at an estate sale, that I sold to an important collection for a rather huge amount of money with the help of James Houston’s son, John.
I still buy Inuit carvings if the depiction is above tourist grade - they fascinate me!
@greeno107 That is awesome! Look up Niviaksiak sometime if you haven't already. I had the good fortune of getting two of his pieces at a PA antiques market which I sold up in Canada with the help of Ingo at First Arts. It is such a fascinating area and I didn't really think about the Japanese connection outside of the prints.
The sale is over - Thank you to everyone who participated! I think the format of a blind bid was a fun idea, but unfamiliar with buyers who otherwise were more intune with Ebay style of auctions. However, I anticipated that might be the case and I'm happy with the results.
I'll add that everyone who participted actually won at least 1 lot - I'm really happy about that result!
So, again, thank you participating! I'll have invoices out by this evening.
Tim
