Hi to all, at this time of modesty and thrift I thought it a good idea if everyone who likes to would show his or her most expensive purchase ever. No need to talk about the price if you don't want to, just show your items.
I'm starting with a large Kangxi vase (43 cm/16,9"). A fund I had was dissolved a few years ago and I asked my bank employee about a good investment for the money. I said that otherwise I would buy an antique vase. She advised me to buy the vase.

Wow, what a beautiful piece, I am still shy on spending big money on porcelain, still would rather invest in real estate. Did not go over 150 $ with Asian antiques. Is it ok to buy more pieces for 100 $ or 1 for 500-700 $? I had to buy more pieces to build an collection, started only 1 year ago.

Please feel free to show your own item, dear Michael. I have noticed that it’s not the most expensive items from my collection that I like most but rather some from the middle and low price range.
As to your question, I guess the general advice is to buy the best you can afford at any given time.

I do not keep records on what I purchase in the United States, destroy the evidence. It is probably a toss up between Ebisu (Fancy Pants, already posted) that I paid retail at a proud place or this little piece, which is very heavy. I have not messed about with the patina. It had been polished to a high shine by the shop owner but I have owned it long enough and it is very tactile that the patina has returned. I probably would not have been able to resist experimenting with the patina, but for fear of damaging the enamel, which has some enamel loss on the lilies. I cannot make out any mark anywhere. I thought it looked Japanese and would go well with arts and crafts style. Always thought I would have a decorating shop someday when I retired but as I told my friends, "you have to be there if you have a shop."

I think my most expensive purchase was actually the Cizhou jar I bought a few weeks ago. 😊
Here is a photo for anyone who missed it. Grand sum of £160 or thereabouts, but it was, I hope, a good buy and while it is mine, I will enjoy it.

This is mine, an imari-verte kangxi/yongzheng charger with a spotted deer, pulling a cart with the lingzhi mushroom. It is probably my favorite charger 🙂
