These 3 plates are currently on ebay from a reliable source often mentioned by Peter. They are listed as 18thc. They all have rim frits and one has a hair line in its base. I saved them to have a look at them a bit later. When I logged in again today there was a special offer of $348.00 us for the 3.   21cm wide

Thoughts please.

They look OK for 18th from the two pictures. Something your interested in there Michael?

Have you had a look at the upcoming sale at Gibson auctions in Armadale? They've got a number of qianlong plates/other for auction 20th September.

Ann who used to work for sotheby's now works there. She was their chinese expert.

Hi Mark, @imperialfinegems

I like the one with the vase in the center not so keen on the other two. Just seemed a good price you often see individual plates being offered in the $200.0 to $500.00 on ebay in this quality i.e. not the fine Qianlong or Kangxi decorated type. Thanks for the tip on the Auction I was wondering where the staff at Sotheby's ended up.

@imperialfinegems

Mark,

Had a look through the Gibson catalogue a couple of  mark and period items looked a little suspect to my largely untrained eye. Should  see and touch before making such comment I suppose. Somebody needs to teach Gibson's how to spell porcelain it dose not make a good impression the way they have spelt it through out the catalogue.

@Brettm,

Hi Michael

Gibson auctions do have done unusual looking porcelain. Unfortunately there is for the most part only limited pictures available. I do like a few items but would like to either obtain more pictures or see in person. The later is problematic atm.

Not sure what you mean by spelling mistakes through out the catalog. I have noticed the term 'porselein' used on their kraak wares etc. I wasn't sure what that meant until I looked it up.

Porselein is the Dutch word for porcelain. So  it seems appropriate when used with kraak wares.

@imperialfinegems

O.K. Mark they have used for all the 18th and 19thc items. Just me being a little to pedantic.

@brettm

If in good condition, they should be worth around $100 each IMO (less so for the one with the hairline). So the offer was not that great.

Yes I was tempted a little I only really liked one of them and as you say not really that cheap especially when you add postage to Australia.

Don't know why I posted them here really just one of those early morning internet things I suppose.

@brettm

Oh, I'm glad you did!

Being affordable, it would be fun to have enough to use as (smallish) charger/place setting for a formal dinner (but how often does that happen these days?) On a navy blue tablecloth they would be eye-catching.
