it is possible to send private messages to members, and if yes, how can I do that?
What does it means the icon below each post, Private/Public? what does it changes?

I just had a good look around the forum and I can't see a way that you can send a private message either.

Giovanni, I can't see what you are referring to. I can see topic icons at the bottom under forum statistics, one says private - is that what you mean? I imagine those are administrator functions, anyway.

Dear Julia, you can see that "private" button only on your own posts. At least, I see it only on mine. If you click on it, it switches to "Public" but I don't know what exactly is changing.

Oh, nothing happens. It blocked out the central line of my post, as it would if you were selecting text to copy or cut, but that post above looks normal to me.

I see now that I have it only on my opening post on this thread. I do not know if you can see it or only me. It has the same shape of the “private” button that you see in the window named “Forum statistics” that is at the end of each thread. If you scroll down until the last post, after that you have that window. At the bottom there is a list of topic icons, it is the penultimate one. I believe that it could allow to set a post to private or public, but it is not clear exactly how.
On my opening post on this thread, it is set to Private (automatically, I didn’t it) but as you see everybody can read it.

Dear all,
To be clear, I am not interested in boring others with private messages, nor having a quite time-consuming activity. Just to give an idea, I do not have a Facebook account and will not have.
It is because we are on a public Forum, which is easily approachable to anyone. There are occasionally some things which are better to keep only among the persons that are directly involved.
