I think definitely the above is mis-leading. They sold/are selling lots of modern reproductions and they describe them as 19th items. Even if you show them the clear evidence, they just don't correct and insist.
I would think this website should update the score of this auction house basing on their such behaviors.
Thank you for raising this concern, however can you please share specific examples with pictures as evidence of your claims rather than making broad, generic statements. That way we can all make our own educated assessments based on the facts.

Yeah, Zacke has what's described to be a huanghuali chair that clearly appears to be Elm. Just my opinion of course.
@bartholin Thanks for clarifying that for me. Looks like he's got several examples on that thread as examples of the stated concern. I just don't understand why these auction houses play games like this with erroneous dating. Even from a business standpoint I would think they are shooting themselves in the foot by damaging their credibility. Either that or they really are fairly uneducated and actually believe what they are saying just because they are uninformed. Of course, if that is true then that is another reason why perhaps they are in the wrong business.

Lots of people like bidamount, so I would hope bidamount to provide as much right info as possible.
There are so many bad examples of Galerie Zacke. Below is another one - it's listed for Mar 05/06 sell. It is such a clear machine carved piece while Galerie Zacke describes it as 18-19th piece.
Thank you Ziliang for bringing this topic up. I would have fallen for many of these issues, especially given the way they list their items with comparison photos to the major auction houses.

@33kills this one is a very easy to tell it's machine carved. There are many fakes are more difficult to tell than this one, as some of them can be 100% hand carved. Some can be 80% machine carved with the final 20% efforts being hand carved.
This one is 100% machine and even not with most recent machine tech. Take a look at the attached - the first image shows the knives what's used by hand to carve. The 2nd image is machine knife. Machine knife move in only one or two directions and it's not really a knife. It's not difficult to imagine the difference of the details of the carved surfaces (the other two images). The edge is also sharp if carved by hand - and people really like it.
@bartholin yes you are right. Those short, dense, regular vertical marks (3rd images) are characteristics of machine work. However it can be theoretically hided by hand/knife to remove them - but it's not something quick and easy for hardwood. The quick and easy way to hide such machine marks is just like the modern copy sold by Zack Galerie (I posted above). Make it blur or dirty 🙂 - see attached once more (red circled, it's in every place).
