I have a dilemma do I sell or keep.
I say, sell. It's in good condition, but not a particularly detailed or particularly interesting scene for a kesi... 19th c. I would figure, as the earlier ones are a bit more dynamic.
Admittedly, I'm not a huge kesi fan, but I've owned a few... the ones with animals/birds are worth hanging onto.
Brian, I know one thing for sure - "if you have" any doubts that's a keeper - this is means 100% for sale..At least this is how everything works on my end. Unless personal circumstances are forcing to sell what you don't want to sell, this is different story then. Or, intentions to keep this for a few years hoping that prices will rise & to sell then..
Well if you are considering to switch to something better, it's pretty much always a good trade. If be honest, I have 0 knowledge on such objects...I had none of these in a past 🙂
@lotusblack I see a foot in a sandal in the photo, so I'm going to guess it is about 4' x 2', which is large, but not huge. I've had a few that were 6-8 feet x 4 feet.
I'd say $600-800 on a good day, but if it were mine, I'd likely flip it for $400/500, but that's because I'm not a big fan of kesi work.
The size is not always the important factor. The example you cited from the MET, I'm guessing is only a fragment, but it's 14th c..... probably would bring $50,000 at auction.
