I found this brush pot in the newsletter. It has a transitional style, not Kangxi style and I think it's new. What do you think?

Dear Xin,
agree completely, it is new, trying to be Transitional.
These Chongzhen - Shunzhi porcelain, which are much sought-after (I really love them) are faked because of the high prices.
What is worrying is that now the fakes of this type of ware are very dangerous, much more than this brush pot.
I do not follow this seller, but I have seen that he is often on Peter’s list; he may be selling good and fake items mixed.
Giovanni
Pretty good quality, the foot is a bit bad. I like how it is matched with an old stand ? . I see a lot of auctions selling this type of item, also a lot of the Kangxi style famille verte pieces. Even places such as Bonhams have these well painted but modern pieces. Often they will say 19th century https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/24524/lot/88/?category=grid&length=560&page=1
I haven't viewed this lot yet in person but I am suspicious

Tonnes of this stuff around in the last couple of years
Hello,
I would like to show you something accordingly to Xin's main question. How old is this stem cup? Brand new, 19th C or older?
Height: 10cm

Hi Adrian,
to me the painting style looks stiff and not elegant, why I would say it's certainly not Kangxi and most probably not Kangxi revival, but a modern piece. Just my opinion though.
Birgit
As to the scholar and boy brushpot from Bonhams, I'm afraid this would pass as Kangxi revival in my eyes. Unfortunately I can see only one picture on the Bonhams site, no foot rim. What does indicate a modern production in your opinion?
Birgit

Hi Guy's yes this is a recommended seller. He is Peter's list. I find he is very good.
The seller did mention he felt it could be as late as republican.
Description:
For sale a lovely Chinese blue and white porcelain Kangxi style brush pot/ bitong/ vase.
from my view this piece is dating later Qing to republic period, but I will let you ultimately decide the exact age for yourself and bid accordingly.
What do you think even later than republican, because if it is fake then it will be modern.
Just to clarify , Migularry is selling the brush pot as late qing or republican , so he/she is not claiming it's transitional or kangxi. The painting style to me looks a bit Japanese , with the dotted style of rendering the plants etc, but in any case early to mid C20th seems about right. It has some age , imo.
The large plate sold by nzguy as kangxi style late qing or republic , ( featured by the goldentoad) is in my view , new and this seller is not generally reliable, and as far as I remember has never featured in Peter's newsletter.
Finally the foot on the stem cup shown by Malka art , does not seem right, it may have some brown material smeared to darken it in firing , and this one could be new, in my view.

Hi Shinigami, to me it is quite typical of these copies. I saw it turn up on eBay also after failing to sell at Bonhams and got a better look. I tend to find it hard to describe/communicate this sort of thing, the porcelain itself, the wear, the style of enamel, the enamel itself, the foot rim, just looks bad to me for Kangxi and for the 19th century and as I have seen a lot of similar modern pieces it just feels the same. Of course the only consequence of this is merely just that I would not buy this piece, I can be wrong.
Having said all of this, I do really quite like the quality of some of these productions as they get better. I would quite like some just to use, perhaps a tea mug with Transitional-Kangxi style decoration would be nice ? Export porcelain for the modern world.
Sorry I did not read the description of the seller, he is not claiming it as Kangxi but Kangxi style.
