Attached images of a blue and white bowl, diameter 15.3 cm, height 6.3 cm, foot diameter 5.3 cm, decorated with ascend/descending ‘Feiyu’ dragons chasing flaming pearls above waves, the base with a ‘fu’ - wealth/blessing/fortune -mark within a single square. Probably dating to late Chenghua/Hongzhi period, so late 15th century.
Some chips to the foot rim, but a rather attractive design. Acquired several years ago and originally unearthed, alone with many other pieces, from a landfill waste dump near an ancient settlement site in Cambodia.

It is always an absolute wonder to me that humble daily use items manage to survive just think of how many hands have touched this bowl and how far it has traveled. I know people dream of finding Imperial items that graced the table of the elite but to me it is just as miraculous that items that until relatively recently had no great monetary value and only survived due to the love and respect that many generations of owners had for their ancestors. Or as in this case become buried for 100's of year and survive intact.

Thanks so much for all your comments on this piece.
The quality of such pieces made at the minyao kilns varied considerably, undoubtedly influenced mainly by the markets and, to some extent, patronage they were commissioned/produced for.
Most of the pieces unearthed at this site, mostly bowls and small jars, were dated to around 1500 and only avarage/poor quality, so this bowl was one of the slightly earlier/better quality objects.
About a year early I also acquired, from the same dealer, another blue and white bowl recovered from the same site which was one of the earliest pieces recovered. I'll post this on a separate thread for you to see.

These 'feiyu' type dragons were original one of the 'mythical sea creatures' design against waves, first seen on Imperial Yongle - although only one piece is known - and Xuande wares, either stem bowls or bowls.
The design on this piece seems to have become popular in the minyao kilns during the Chenghua/Hongzhi periods, and continued into the early/mid 16th century, but the pantingly style changes, with the dragons bodies become much longer/thinner and the overall drawing been more stiff/placed.
