Thank you, very comprehensive. The signature does not seems to match to any of the above unfortunately. But it seems that my kutani vase is of decent quality comparing to other examples, although it's not antique. The shipping might be a deal breaker in this case. Large fragile pieces need extra care to pack and it affects the shipping costs. Will try to offer it to some auction house and see what they think.
You may find some of these links very superficial/commerical and obscure to the honored tradition of Ceramic history but they all share the theme of what they describe as Kutani-Yaki.
nothing major,but noted.
This looks like a similar style to your Vase. The backmark is very different but perhaps it may help aid in finding out more about your vase. The seller describes it as Yaki.
Red Kutani line
“Aka-E” literary translates to “red painting”. Some of the designs by Hachiroemon Iidaya are called “Aka-Kutani (Red Kutani)”. He drew figures and some fine patterns in red and then used gold to finish.
How many types of Japanese porcelain do you know of? Imari-Yaki, made in Saga? Bizen-Yaki, from Okayama? Kyo-Yaki, originating in Kyoto? We have so many, so you can't expect me to count them all! Although each has their own designs or paintings, I prefer old Imari, called "Ko-Imari", and the Kutani with arabesque design, but that's just my opinion.Kutani-Yaki is the porcelain made in Ishikawa.
Compared to an exotic Imari (Arita) ware, the color of a Kutani ware is darker and softer. But it's dynamic. Yet delicate. As the traditional ceramic has more than 460 years, there are some types and you can select from one what you like.
