@johnshoe oh wow John, that is so pretty! Nifty and dandy too! 😁…May I ask where you found that? By the way, I have never seen one with a fish on it either!

It was a nice kutani vase and a good size.

I personally would have been reluctant to bid on it because of the possible restoration. When they wrote possibly.... You can be pretty sure that it's been restored at some point.

The registration process from them is ridiculous. They must have had numerous non payers in the past. I believe but not sure that the auction houses on both liveauctions and invaluable have access to your purchase history to see if you have been a good payer.

Bank transfer (wired) with a hefty deposit before bidding (refundable) is only required in large ticked items.

@charlotte I found them in an antique shop I frequent. In fact, I was just in there again today and talked to the same dealer about his Kutani collection. He told me has more at home and showed me some pictures. I told him he should bring more of it into the shop. He probably has some great pieces. We'll see....

@greeno107 These are VERY attractive vases, but they’re not quite what I am always on the lookout for. I’m torn, but I think since I’m not madly in love with them, I had best pass. Thanks so much for showing them to me!!

Hi all - hope everyone is doing well. 😊

Good to see another Kutani collector in the forum, Charlotte. Would love to see some of your collection if you're willing.

Lovely fish, John. That's a great piece. I was about to say I'd not seen a fish on Kutani before, but I forgot I bought a pair of Yokohama Kutani plates with fish a while back from Bob and Freek.

Also, I hope you aren't giving up collecting Kutani, Tim! Those are some nice umbrella stands. Unusual to see a pair.

Apologies in advance for formatting issues. This is my first time logging on to the forum from my phone. Here's a Kutani teapot I bought the other day:

@bartholin That's a great teapot!

No, it's not that I'm giving up on collecting Kutani, but I'm considering reducing my overall collection of art/antiques/furniture to my favorite 100 pieces.  I have too much to display (so a lot of it is boxed or just piled together (looks like I'm hoarding), and some of it no longer interests me (which doesn't mean it's not of good quality, just not my current taste).

The hat stands are really good quality, but for me, I like some of my smaller pieces of kutani, and the shelf I use for display is too close to the ceiling for the hat stands to fit (they're about 16" tall).

I'm going to try and do some painting/redecorating around my house before Thanksgiving.... I'll keep you posted on what I decide to part with.

@bartholin yes, I’m certainly willing, and I love your teapot! Wow, how unusual! Later I will try to figure out how to attach images here. I’m used to sharing links but the other, not so much.
