That one from Sotheby's is also brand new.....
I suspect that the owners who actually own the original are swapping them over with these high end copies and keeping the originals. And that the auction houses haven't picked up on it yet.
There have been many of these exact same ones with differing reign marks hitting the market over the last year or so.
Especially Guangxu marked.

In Peter's appraisal video this week he discusses a repro Xixi imperial grisaille dish with yellow ground. One of the giveaways was the evenness of the yellow. This dish does seem to have more unevenness of tone but maybe not enough to look authentic.
Those grapes certainly look uninspiring and clunky.
For one.... The scales on the green dragon are poorly painted especially towards the end of the tail.
These are exact copies all decorated exactly the same but with different reign marks.
They are very good copies and you will see exactly the same on offer not only with the majors but flooding the lower tier auction houses.

Here are examples of genuine m&p Guangxu dragon dishes for comparison. Please carefully view the scales on the green dragon. Then compare the size of the aubergine dragon.

Now compare with Tongzhi m&p
All the copies currently being made are all identical to each other but with different reign marks which is not correct.
The only problem here is that the Guangxu ones can be tricky because towards the end of the Reign the quality was lower standard than before.
Each imperial reign had slightly different designs... They definitely were not all identical to each other from Kangxi to Xuantong.
Here a couple more copies with Guangxu marks.
Here is a Xuantong one recently sold for $10,000 usd.... Also a brand new copy.

Yes I admit it can be difficult to tell the difference. Even the majors are fooled.
However, if after you have handled well over 100 of these and studied them intensely you can see the subtle differences in them.
There are also other issues wrong with the these fake plates but because I know that the fakers read these blogs it's not a good idea to publish imo.

This is an excellent thread that’s shows you can’t get two experts to agree on a specific piece Peter says one thing Sotheby’s has it as real but y’all have them as faked. I’ll be glad when they get a test that’s you cay use at home. I’m looking at a small paint computer that test paint colors it’s will test upto 11000 different colors let’s you know how it’s mixed or made and what’s used. I let you all know if it’s works John
This is a new design which I believe just hit the market place.
The front is very convincing with both the dragons. However the sides and back including the mark are poorly written. Also the glaze on back is new not old. Comes with a hairline crack.
Currently being offered by Oakridge auction lot 255 on their upcoming sake.
