The first 87 lots from an old English collection, put together between 1930/60’s, many of which were acquired from/through Bluetts, one of the great 20thC London Chinese/Asian art dealers. A number of pieces had provenances that were traced back the 1920’s …
Some wonderful pieces, all with very low estimates which, unsurprisingly, were exceeded, by 10-20 times estimates …

Did they date it to the Ming dynasty rather than the Song dynasty? There are a couple of related jars sold at Sotheby's

Trying to 'described in words' how an object 'feels when held' is rather difficult and, ultimately, rather meaningless - my notes only record expressions, both initial and subsequent discussions with others, after they have also seen/handled ...
Weight can be an important indicator either to heavy/light - usually but not always a warning sign, or right/as expected - but this is just one, of several aspects, that needs considering ...
Some objects possess a beautiful, yet subtle, tactile feel when held, you instantly know its a very high quality piece, others range anywhere between 'good/nice, average/OK, not so good/nice ext, ext ...
This 'feel' depends on numerous aspects, including shape, proportions, modelling/trimming/finishing, glaze formula, firing conditions and how these, and others, effect the final outcome when completed ...
