The bids for this brushpot are currently at EUR 800. But is it really Republic? The painting is almost photorealistic, the porcelain flawless.

There are some Republic pieces with void free perfect looking glaze, so that alone does not mean it is newer. I like the looks and potential of it, and if it was cheap I'd grab it for sure, but since it is bringing real money, personally I think I'd have to check with Peter or another Republic expert before getting too far into it. I like the tone of the glaze - it reminds me of a vase I have that Peter dated to around 1930. John
@shinigami. I notice the colors are quite dull despite the seemingly sharp lines.
The script looks out of proportion.
The photos just aren’t sharp enough to zoom in, but the possibility of a modern transfer should not be ruled out.
Thank you for your comments. The pictures are the ones from the auction house but I won’t ask for better ones because €800 will amount to €1200 with fees and shipping, so it’s already beyond my means. I also have great doubts about it. I think I will bid on a good quality export piece instead where I am 100% sure.
