if glued down...probably. You know....I started my antique business selling woodblock prints on Ebay.
Did you make money because there are woodblocks everywhere here. I just don’t know anything about them. Except the big wave.what’s strange about these prints is they glued them to other prints.
@lotusblack Dear Brian ..Ebay is no nigthmare ...its the highway of the antiques market ....you can sell fast and make a lot of cash. ...good starting price is 1.99 ..its like a secrect code among ebay sellerˋs ( iam selling there since 2002)´.
Make good clear pictures choose the rigth category keep it nice and simple give information on the size the condition thats it ...no emotional expression like beautifull or so no needed for it ..let the bidders decide if its beautifull or not.
try it out you migth be suprised
PS. make shure you calculate enough for shipping .....its a common mistake for newbees to miscalculate shipping costs.
Or you might wait for Peter‘s new selling platform. I don’t know how far it is progressed but I’ll most probably try it out in thinning my collection a bit.
Birgit
@shinigami very good idea Birgit ...i am also waiting ..however good thing by the time it goes online i will be retired and got a lot of time to downsize my collection ..
Youre Neighbour Martin
@lotusblack Glued to other prints? That sounds bad.
I was able to leave my full time commercial banking job in Palm Beach selling on Ebay, so yeah, you can make money selling on Ebay whether your selling Japanese woodblock prints or nuts and bolts IF you know your product, describe accurately, take good photos, calculate shipping costs correctly, and ship your items safely and on time.
What is the procrastination about? You said you'd be happy with $50 a piece.... this isn't high stakes gambling. Don't get sucked in on the negative UNTIL you start selling Chinese items...LOL, then you'll be in for a treat!
@greeno107 glued together?.. maybee they need a closer inspection
by some Expert.
@greeno107 what happens with Chinese items? Should I be worried? I was going to list this jar on eBay this weekend as a test run. Should I not sell to Chinas market
?
@webboy thank you! I feel the biggest hurdle for a newbie is that my ebay account says "joined 2021" LOL and I don't have any reviews from anyone else. and then even ebay doesn't trust a new account like mine. They have put a limit of only able to list 5 items.
Hi Brian,
have you checked your prints via https://ukiyo-e.org ?
If their search finds your prints, the lines look exactly (!) like those online, they are printed on washi paper and the size is the same you can be confident that they are real. I tried to collect/ deal in Woodblock prints for 1 year now and lost serious money in the beginning because I didn´t follow these rules and bought at a local auction house that (what I didn´t know back then) is known for randomly dating things with no knowledge at all.
If you want to sell them online and do not have a good ebay account, I can recommend catawiki. They have relatively good auctions for woodblock prints and in my experience the prices are usually a bit higher than on ebay because your print will more likely be bought by a collector than another dealer. The whole process takes a bit longer, but imo it´s worth it.
Regards Robin

Buy a few items AngP and get a few good ratings. That is what I did to begin with.
I have only had one cancelled sale to China, but it is irritating. Then another time a painting was returned from a UK buyer because they didn't like a mark on it that was clearly flagged up in the photos! I am ultra careful to point out everything wrong but at the end of the day, if they want to return it, there isn't much you can do. Sometimes you just have to focus on good customer service and get through it.
One thing I have started doing, having found out the process the parcels go through with the mail services, is to photograph my packing stages in case I need to make a claim on insurance. I don't want the arguing it was insufficiently packed. Obviously photos don't actually prove anything, but it may help.
@julia thank you for the advice. if I do get reviews of people saying that I was a good buyer. Would that translate to someone thinking that I'm a good seller?
Not entirely, but it will definitely look good if you appear to be an honest, reliable buyer. Trust is so important . For the rest you will have to describe your items accurately, take good photos, sell items in the correct section and after that it is up to the buyers whether or not they decide to bid and how much. 😊
@lotusblack I'm sure Greeno will be first in line for the estate sale at your house.
Arizona is the capital of estate sales.
