Some kind of metal (maybe pewter?) overlay on enamel. I had never see one like this and would like to hear others thoughts. And I'm very sorry for the blurry pictures, but maybe someone can recognize the type at least. Thanks!
It looks like silver overlay to me. Looks European/American in style, check the silver overlay to see if there are any tiny marks. Â
The photos are very fuzzy but it may be tibetan style? There are lots out there, so should be easy to find similar items. The ones I have seen, at local UK auctions, sold for low prices. Basically decorative but no value. May not be true of all, of course, but I know little about them. These may be modern/vintage interpretations of more desirable pieces.
This is the kind of thing. Obviously I don't ,now if they are actually made in Tibet; they may be produced in China in this style.

By the way, John, it isn't clear from the link I gave, but these tea pots can be made entirely of metal, some may have porcelain bodies etc.
This is a sterling silver overlay teapot, Art Nouveau, from the pictures I cannot tell the age but my guess is early 20th century. We get them in our shop occasionally, certain makers are valuable, but they are out of fashion at the moment. Usually bring $150-300.

That is a very nice set Jeremy, but I don't think John's is a European shape. I maybe wrong of course. I don't drink tea so may be not best placed to judge! 😊Â
John, rub it 3 times and see what happens, no wait that was a lamp but a similar shape. Take your loupe and see what the mark says and let us know, it is pretty.
Yes, that is some kind of mark but I couldn't make it out even with my loupe, etc. It is like some blurred stamped impression that is glazed over and doesn't seem to have recognizable features. At any rate, I think I'll pass for now.Â
I didn't know that, Jeremy, but I am sure you won't mind if I remain unconvinced. 😊 There is just too much of the Tibetan look about it for my mind, but disagreeing is part of what the site is about.
Either way, I think John is right to pass on this piece.
American Lenox was the favored chinaware as wedding gifts for generations. In the sixties everyone received some as wedding presents, the cream color shell nut dish (although mine is its contemporary Noritake), the bud vase etc. In small towns they were ordered up through local jewelry stores, in cities at the Chinaware departments of large department stores. Their Autumn pattern was the rage in the eighties and was featured heavily in ad photo shoots and events held at fine hotels. Everyone's Grandmother had Fostoria glassware which was marketed the same way, primarily as wedding gifts. For a trip down memory lane Google Lenox Autumn pattern, which had a moriage decoration.
